Venke Knutson Liodden (born October 20, 1978) is a Norwegian singer.
She debuted in 2003 with the single "Panic", followed by her first album Scared and the singles "Scared" and "Kiss".
Brand new Norwegian act with a radiofriendly pop/rock sound. Compared by many with Lene Marlin. New single "Panic" is already a big hit in Norway.
”I’ll do what I can, to be who I am.” - Venke Knutson said that in 2004. It isn’t everybody that gets to be what they want, and it isn’t everybody that dreams of what they have become. Venke Knutson was born in the southern Norway in the little town Birkeland, and she dreamed much just so sit by a shadow of a tree. She didn’t sing much to begin with, but she wrote poems. Everybody was jealous on her. The voice too.
Venke was born in to a musical family for 26 years ago, and the first choice for her if she was a boy was Kristian. She was the youngest of three sisters, and she got inspired by the elder. Venke’s favourite hobby when she was just a little girl was to lie on the grass at night and stared at the stars , not on TV, but to watch the stars that was so bright and clearly up in where heaven was. She got to hear the different names of the stars by her father. The movement, formation and history were told to her too.
When Venke was a teenager she spent a couple of year with her family in the United States. She lived there earlier in life, but she was too young to understand what was going on round her. This time, she really knew what she was doing. – “Got to know myself again. No one knew me over there and I liked it. I could spent time just to find out who I was”, Venke said that after going to the United States when she was a teenager. Her career didn’t start before she joined the school choir. Inspired by 2 older sisters, she applied for music by Vågsbygd skole (Vågsbygd school), when the family was about to go back home to Norway, she was accepted without a song test, because she was already in Texas. Venke thinks it was just all luck.
Venke Knutson never actually dreamed of being an artist. You can hear Venke’s voice on music like “Panic” and “Scared”, her two first songs was just a taste on what she had to offer, “Kiss”, was one of the other hits she have had. According to some critics in Norway that song is one of the best Norwegian summer songs of all time, but it hasn’t reached the top in that category yet. Venke has written everything on the album herself, she was either alone or together with producer, Jørn Dahl and the guitarist Dan Sundhordvik. Two of Venke’s favourite songs are written by Dan and herself.
