1、 stop to do sth & stop doing sth
stop to do sth 是停下（手头的事情）去做另外一件事
e.g. Hearing the dollbell, she stopped to open the dor.
听见门铃声，她停下手中的活去开门。
stop doing sth. 是停止做某事 指停止做正在做的事情
e.g. Hearing the doorbell,she stopped washingthe dishes.
听见门铃声，她停止洗碗了。


2、forget doing sth & forget to do sth
forget doing sth 表示忘记曾经做过的某事 （这件事做过了)
eg：I forget opening the door.
我忘记掉我昨天把门关了。
forget to do sth 表示忘记去做某件事（还没做的）
eg：I forgot to do my homework last night.
比如说我昨天晚上忘记做作业了。


3 remember doing & remember to do
remember doing 记得曾经做过。
eg： I remember locking the door
我记得曾锁过门。
remember to do 记得去做某事（还没做）
eg：Did you remember to do the shopping?
你记得要去购物吗?

4、try doing & try to do
try doing 试验，试着做某事。
eg：I tried gardening but didn't succeed.
我试着种果木花卉，但未成功。
try to do 想方设法做某事。
eg：You must try to be more careful.
你一定要多加小心。


5、go on doing & go on to do
go on doing sth 是指停了后，继续做同一件事
eg: After dinner, he went on doing his homework.
晚餐后，他继续做作业 （意思是晚饭前他也在做作业）
go on to do sth 是停了后，继续做另外一件事
eg：After dinner, he went on to do his homework.
晚餐后，他开始做作业 （晚餐后他继续做事，但换成写作业了。）


6、be afraid of doing & be afraid to do
be afraid of doing 担心出现doing的状况、结果。是客观上造成的，意为"生怕，恐怕"。
eg：She was afraid of waking her husband.
她生怕吵醒她丈夫。
be afraid to do 不敢，胆怯去做某事，是主观上的原因不去做，意为"怕"；
eg：She was afraid to wake her husband.
她不敢去叫醒她丈夫。


7、mean doing & mean to do
mean doing 意味着
eg： To raise wage means increasing purchasing power.
赠加工资意味着增加购买力
mean to do 打算、想
eg： I mean to go, but my father would not allow me to.
我想去，但是我父亲不肯让我去。


8、 be interested in doing & be interested to do
be interested in doing 对某种想法感兴趣，doing 通常为想法。
eg：I'm interested in working in Switzerland. Do you have any idea about that?
我对在瑞士工作感兴趣。你想过这事吗? (一种想法)
be interested to do 对做某事感兴趣，想了解某事。
eg：I shall be interested to know what happens.
我很想知道发生了什么事。 (想了解)

1) 谈及一项长期活动或开始一种习惯时，使用doing.
How old were you when you first started playing the piano?
你几岁时开始弹钢琴？
2) begin, start用进行时时，后面动词用不定式to do
I was beginning to get angry。
我开始生起气来。
3) 在attempt, intend, begin, start 后接know, understand, realize这类动词时，常用不定式to do。
I begin to understand the truth。
我开始明白真相。
4) 物作主语时
It began to melt.
