【Danny Gokey】演唱会报道

Great recap, Pam. There was no “Win Me Over”… and the Atlanta “I Still Believe” was Hip-Hop. Danny and the kids were singing and dancing together to all of the versions.

They really got into the Nashville version I think it was a very special night for the Sophia’s Heart kids. Danny really interacted with them on the stage. I thought they had great chemistry. During one song, Danny put his hand on one of the boy’s shoulders, and when Danny turned away, he was just beaming to his friends. I think they all got to keep their backstage passes, too.

And got a picture with Sweet Pea as a group. The video project seems to be moving forward with a Urban/Hip Hop version of “I still Believe” Danny mentioned end of March for the shoot? It did seem that the concert was more SHF related than his earlier shows. It will be interesting to see how audiences react to it. I hope there is a review of the concert. Danny did sound great to me. Great voice. I loved the acoustic version of CNT — with Tim the guitar player. Very pretty. And then the band joined in for the last fifth of the song.

Good morning everyone, slept in- a little bit of a drive back from Manitowac, late last night. It was so great to see Darla-it had been too long-had the pleasure of driving with her to and from the concert. She put up with my late night after concert stop to McDonalds The city of Manitowac was not prepared for the onslaught of Gokey fans. (The usher told me the concert was sold out-maybe last minute walk ins or perhaps the few upper balcony seats didn’t count in her eyes ).

Most restaurants were booked-ours was so busy the waitress told us we would have to wait almost an hour to get food (this after waiting 30 min just to get her to come to our table). Cori and Dave had come earlier so they ate, Milgokey, Darla and I just had some soup then. Thus, the McDonalds Good driving weather though, and not too cold, nice night. My concert impressions next.

The highlight of my night was definitely the Sophia’s Heart kids. They were fantastic! Jeff has worked with them, and although some of the group comes and goes, he has perfected his teaching style, and now works with the kids himself for choreography. Dancing and singing=great and people were VERY impressed- many asked for Michelle’s business cards to consider contacting for festivals afterward. I think the crowd seemed to have more Danny music newbies in it, which was nice. We ran out of CDs so they had to grab more from the tour bus. Lots of merch being sold-mostly Danny Gokey merch, but some SH. Michelle manned the merch booth by herself I helped her for about 1/4 of the concert, intermission and during signing so I did miss a little of Danny’s performance-including the I Still Believe compilation, which was interesting I heard; I think he’s been working with Mr. Talkbox on that.

A big Thanks to Milgokey for helping with merchandise-I know Michelle really appreciated it Had great seats-close, off to the side. So funny- didn’t plan it that way, but Jan and Ed were right in front of us and Karen K and her husband right in back! Band was a little too loud, IMO, but not as bad as Beaver Dam. They did a good job
Didn’t recognize drum/guitar. Josh and Mr. Talkbox were there. No steel player
Not sure where Country Girl tweet came from-I never heard it played on loudspeakers, and certainly not by Danny.

No new music, except for remix of I Still Believe. I got excited because after Danny sang a little bit of CNT he said he was going to do a tribute to Whitney Houston and started singing a few lines of “I Will Always Love You”, but then segued right into a religious interlude of I Can Only Imagine and A Great God (I’ve heard him sing that on tapes from worship services before). I thought I was at a revival for a minute-numerous people standing up waving their ar***ike at mega churches. Good music, but I would have loved to hear him actually sing a Whitney song Then he ended the segment with CNT again- kind of a different medley, in my experience!

He sang SHH and GAK-no WMO (unless it was when I was helping with merch). Ended with LOAP. No encore. Crowd was responsive and happy, although a few complained they heard more band than Danny. The mix was ok where I sat-just a little loud, but I’m used to that at concerts! Danny was super accommodating- there was a very long line after and he signed and also took pics with everyone! Basically everyone who waited received a mini-meet and greet. He was very patient. The merch seemed to go over well. That’s all I have, I think
