Charge: 
 Chinese into English or Japanese RMB 250--350 every 1000 Chinese characters 
English or Japanese into Chinese RMB 100--150 every 1000 Chinese characters 
Chinese into Germany, French or Russian RMB 400--450 every 1000 Chinese characters 
Germany, French or Russian into Chinese RMB 150--200 every 1000 Chinese characters 
Chinese into other languages RMB 500--550 Germany, French or Russian 
Other languages into Chinese RMB 250--300 Germany, French or Russian 
 
 
Notes:
1. The charge accords to the Chinese characters, including punctuation.
2. Deposit: pay half money in advance.
3. The price will change according to the difficulty in translation.

Interlibrary Loan at the Shanghai Library: 
It has been 20 years to carry out the Interlibrary Loan (ILL) at the Shanghai Library. In 1996, Shanghai Library had been the member of OCLC ILL Service. With the development of Shanghai Information Resources Consortium and the construction of Shanghai Central Library System, Shanghai Information Sharing Project, led by the Shanghai Library, served for organizations and individuals from home and abroad. Shanghai Library also began the ILL service at that time.

Loan Period:(Including the time on the mail-way) 
1. 28 days. May be renewed for 30 more days. One renewal only. 
2. All loaned materials may be recalled if needed by our library patron. 
 
Document Scope for ILL: 
1. We only can loan the books with two duplicates, which can be loaned by our library's policy. (As to the collection information, please refer to the IPAC.) 
2. Other documents, such as newspapers, periodicals, reference books, rare books, manuscripts, etc., we can provide some photocopies. 
 
Charge for ILL 
Home: Final Charge = Entrustment Fee + Postage 
Entrustment Fee: Shanghai Library's Collection: RMB 10 per article
Not Shanghai Library's Collection: RMB 10 per article +Fees according to other library's charge standard 
Postage: According to the charge standard of the post office . 
 
Who We Serve: 
1. Only Shanghai Library's readers can be our patrons. 
2. As to other readers, please contact with their local library. 
Notes : 
1. In order to serve the readers better, every library only can borrow 20 books at most from the Shanghai Library each month. 
2. The borrowing books only can be read at the Shanghai Library. 
3. The lending books can be read, according to the borrower's policy.
