Program18 Sandcastles
[We hear the ocean.]
Mr.English: [Very relaxed] Hello again, everyone. Welcome to the beach. Yoko and I are relaxing by the ocean.
Yoko: We’re very far away.
Mr.English: We're far away in time. The year is 2092. The sun is hot, but it doesn't burn. The beach has warm, white sand. The water is blue and calm. The trees are tall and green. Are you enjoying your rest, Yoko?
Yoko: [She sighs] Oh, I guess so.
Mr.English: Is everything OK?
Yoko:I was thinking about the past.
Mr.English: Oh, did you go to the beach a lot?
Yoko:Yes. In the summer, when I was a child, I went to the beach every weekend.
Mr.English: I went to the beach every weekend, too. I remember, I always made
castles of sand.
Yoko:Did you make sandcastles, too?
Mr.English: Sure I did. I always had a lot of fun at the beach. Did you swim in
the ocean?
Yoko:Of course. I did. I swam into the waves. And then, back on the beach, I ate
barbecued chicken.
Mr.English: I ate barbecued chicken, too!
Yoko:Life was so wonderful then.
Mr.English: Was? Life is wonderful, Yoko. It's wonderful right here.
