China urged to strengthen sea patrols
China should strengthen routine sea partols and improve coordination among marine surveillance forces, the military and foreign affaris departments, Liu Cigui, head of the State Oceanic Administration, said in an article released on the administration's website on Nov 26.
His remarks are seen as a sign of increasing Chinese awareness of safeguarding its marine interests.
He said the development of key islands in the Xisha, Zhongsha and Nansha islands region will be carried out step by step.
