Özil is a man now. His unpredictable running, pace and spectacular vision let him set his stamp on this game. He couldn't do that last year.

Busquets was overwhelmed by Ozil and Khedira's movement, with Xavi not providing any help and Iniesta playing a very uncharacteristicly individual game (how many times did he dribble from nowhere to nowhere for no perceivable tactical benefit?).
Madrid played very very well, Ozil especially so. Regardless the claptrap written (and spoken) about Varane, he was good but he should in no way overshadow Ozil's performance.
Ozil was Madrid's threat, both as architect of everything good Madrid did (including the goal Varane scored) and as the leader-on-the-field. His assertive, brave and technically excellent performance lifted Madrid and brought Barca's midfield back down to human proportions.
Anyway, as I say, he's good but really shouldn't be the "story". (he = Varane) Ozil was just fantastic. He deserves recognition and the Madrid fans should see just where the true quality in the team lies.

Real were really good today though seemed a lil faded during the later stages of the 2nd half. High tempo, end to end game and a fair result IMO!! Varane n Ozil were the stand out performers specially Ozil with such elegant passing with perfection. Some of his through balls today were absolutely great!! Iniesta on the other hand just glides pass the opponents with such ease!!

Ozil was lovely to watch, as always. I thought Khedira's work rate was unbelievable.
Ozil --- Varane ---- goal - it has a certain refinement to it.

Ozil isn't inconsistent, no more than Cristiano is. He just doesn't have the team to play to his strengths.

Too be fair whenever Ozil got the ball Barca double-teamed him. If he kept it longer they triple- or even quadruple-teamed him (like the scene in the first half where he went down so easily in the end).
The problem for Real was that Callejon was out of his depth and Barca took advantage by leaving him alone and focusing on Ozil. When Modric came on Ozil moved to the right and as a result got more space and time, as Barca now had to focus on Modric as well.

Modric was great in the midfield, it was one of the closest midfield battle we had in while, of course is praising Varane for out of the world performance, but Ozil has been nothing short that brilliant in this game, the creativity, the owning of alba, busquets, creating chances from stupid crosses, he was absolute monster.
