Bronchitis is an inflammation of the air passages within the lungs. It occurs when the trachea (windpipe) and the large and small bronchi (airways) within the lungs become inflamed because of infection or other causes.
Bronchitis can be classified into two categories:
acute bronchitis
chronic bronchitis each of them has unique etiologies, pathologies, and therapies.
Bronchitis Symptoms
1. expectorating cough
(also known as a productive cough, i.e. one that produces sputum) 2. shortness of breath (dyspnea) and wheezing.
2. shortness of breath (dyspnea) and wheezing.
3. Occasionally chest pains, fever, and fatigue or malaise may also occur. Mucus is often green or yellowish green and also may be orange or pink, depending on the pathogen causing the inflammation.
