It was reported that Brasil's Jade Barbosa has ruptured her ligament during training and therefor will most likely miss the next World championship which will be held in Belgium this fall.
"Unfortunately it happened and I'll do my best to recover." said Barbosa "I am sad because I was training well, was doing everything right. I want to compete at Worlds, but I'll have to listen to other opinions and decide what i will do."
The 22 year old gymnast also said that she was told not to worry as she only got injured in the first year of this quad and there is still time to train for the next Olympic games.
The Brazilian team's coach Georgette Vidor expressed her disappointment as the athlete was doing well in training and was ready to win a medal in Belgium.
"She was upset and cried a lot" said Vidor " We need her in our team, she has lost weight, behaved well and did everything possible in training. She won a lot of medals in competitions she participated at this year."
Barbosa desires to have the surgery in Rio to be with her family.
