Perak is the second largest state in Peninsular Malaysia where it is surrounded by Kedah on the north, Kelantan and Pahang on the east, Selangor on the south and as well as Straits of Malacca on the west. With a land area consists of roughly 21000 square kilometer, the population of the Perak state falls around 2 million as of the year 2000. The state capital of Perak is none other than Ipoh whereas Kuala Kangsar is the royal capital of the Perak state. In addition to these two districts, there are seven other main administrative divisions where they are known as Batang Padang, Hilir Perak, Hulu Perak, Kinta, Krian, Manjung, Perak Tengah, Larut, Matang and Selama. In Perak, the whole state itself seems to be a moderately paced state where the life here in Perak is not as hustling as Selangor or as slowly paced as states like the Terengganu. Nowadays, due to the declination of the tin mining industries during the 80s, the main economy of Perak now depends mostly on industrial and as well as manufacturing field. Aside from that, Perak is also a wonderful place for a tourist to visit as Perak has quite a number of tourist attractions and just like the Penang state, Perak is a very well known food paradise as there is a wide variety of tasty local cuisines such as Dim Sum or the famous Hor Fun (flat rice noodle). The climate here in Perak is identical to any other states in Malaysia where the climate is tropical climate. However, due to the fact of the geographical location, Perak is mostly being surrounded by mountains where this is why the weather in Perak is slightly cooler when compared with others states like Penang or Selangor.
