Barry的这段视频应该是1996年12月，Barry Manilow与A&E Network电视台合作的Live by Request （现场点播）。有观众点播了When October Goes，Barry讲说这是他的favorite song，出自他的favorite album 《2:00 AM Paradise Cafe》（1984）。作词是大手Johnny Mercer，他的遗孀将Jonny生前未配曲的歌词手稿交给了Barry，希望Barry能够完成作品。When October Goes是Barry配曲的第一首，他讲起创作时的情形：“...this is a beautiful poem that he （Johnny） had written. I just sat at the piano and I just played it as he was writing it with me..." （这是Johnny写的很美的一首诗，我当时就坐在钢琴前，旋律就自然地从指尖流出，好像Johnny就在身边和我一起写完这首歌）。好感动，伯牙子期高山流水的感觉。
从维基百科上看到，Johnny Mercer 1976年因脑癌去世。他晚年特别喜欢Barry Manilow，因为Barry的成名曲Mandy，Johnny的女儿就叫Mandy。
2003年12月，Barry和A&E电台再次推出Live by Request圣诞特辑（A Barry Manilow Christmas: Live by Request）。Live by Request这个节目1996年得过美国电视艾美奖， Barry的这两次Live秀是都是节目中反响非常好的，还出了DVD。好多歌手都上过这个节目，Johnny Mathis, Hall & Oates, David Bowie, Elvis Costello, The Bee Gees, John Fogerty, Don Henley, Elton John, B. B. King, Lyle Lovett, John Mellencamp, Vince Gill, Santana, Gloria Estefan, Phil Collins, Michael Bolton, Neil Diamond, James Taylor, Trisha Yearwood, Reba McEntire, Earth, Wind & Fire （有没有熟悉的名字？）。
不知道老林之后会不会和一些电视台合作这样的音乐节目呢？现场乐队live演唱，还可以和歌迷互动，好期待啊。
