Do you ever doubt your life is genuine or not?
Do you ever doubt your life is genuine or not? What does that mean? Or I can ask in another way, Is your life the way it suppose to be? You can ask this question to those who end up in the jail, those killer or criminal. Is their life the way they suppose to be? The answer is of course not, we are not facing that kind of extreme scenario. But do we also have a little bit doubt? Is my life the way it suppose to be? Or is my life genuine?
A Christian may answer this question like this: follow god’s way, then your life will be genuine. As we all know, to illustrate same thing, can have different narrative, and right now I just want to share my narrative about this question.
We do things according to our will, there may have good will and bad will, a bad will can be anything but a good will can only be something rational, reason or something intrinsic good. Western philosopher emphasis on the ration, reason. Like Kant, While Chinese traditional philosopher likes wangyangming, zhuxi emphasis on conscience and heavenly principle. They are not separate concept, they are somehow connected. And here is my perspective.
Reason are all heavenly principle, indicate in this way: heavenly principle > reason. Heavenly principles are all conscience, indicate as: conscience > heavenly principle. Conscience are all good will. Indicate as: good will >conscience. After all I get this chart:
So the conclusion I draw is act according to your good will is the way to lead a genuine life. And the second question will be but how?
