Recently an article has come out reporting that the drama Doctor Stranger will be re-edited and released as a movie for Chinese audience.
The previous tweets and Facebook posts from staff of the show suggest clearly enough that this decision was not discussed and agreed by all those concerned.
But this is not the most important matter.

Few weeks ago there was a special broadcast of the show on SBS in Korea, re-edited for a rerun.
Every single scene that highlighted Park Hoon’s past and self-identity was deleted or shortened, and what remained of his character was merely “a boyfriend of Song Jae Hee.”
Park Hoon, a warm-hearted genius, who despite his trauma from his North Korea days continuously struggles to become an ideal doctor, has disappeared.

The movie will exclude any and all storyline concerning North Korea, and will be filled with romance and melodrama.
It is clear to anybody that without the North Korea plot, the very identity of Park Hoon as a character will disappear, and that this disappointing pretense of romance in the drama is already boring and borderline creepy.

이 모든 것이 중국 시청자들의 취향에 맞춘 것이라 주장합니다.
The actors, who have ever been so hardworking while the drama and the characters have become more outlandish every episode,
will be forced to be involved in additional shooting and movie promotion, all for only one week’s worth of pay.
All this, just for the Chinese viewers.

드라마에서도 반응이 가장 나빴던 멜로만을 추려서 영화로 만들면 흥행이 저조할 것은 분명하고,

갈수록 이상해지는 극의 상황에 한국 시청자들은 많은 항의를 전했었습니다.
그러나 전혀 개선되지 않았고 오히려 악화되어 왔습니다.
The Korean viewers have protested for so long about the unwanted and unexpected direction of the drama, but very little has changed, and only for the worst.
이 극의 중심은 ‘의사 박훈’인데 어째서 갈수록 그 모습이 보이지 않냐는 시청자들의 원성에
작가와 감독은 ‘어느 정도 공감’하는 의견이라 답했습니다.

중국의 시청자들을 변명으로 내세우며 계속 이상한 방향으로 드라마가 종영될 때까지 내달리지 않기를,

So as viewers in Korea we ask those who watch the drama in China.
We sincerely request that you stop the drama from using the Chinese audience as an excuse to destroy its plot, and from getting a movie release in China.

그리고 시청자들을 무시하고 기만한 결과인 이상한 극이 영화란 명목으로 상영되는 것을 막아주십시오.
Please let them know that what they claim is false.
Please stop them from releasing a product of deceit and disregard for viewers in the name of film.
중국에서만 개봉할 예정이라 했으니 한국의 시청자들은 상황을 알리는 것 외에는 할 수 있는 일이 없습니다.
드라마 최종 촬영 직후 일주일에 걸쳐 영화를 위한 추가 촬영이 이루어질 것이라 했으니 시일이 촉박합니다.
우리가 사랑했던 드라마가 이대로 최악의 마지막을 남기지 않도록 도와주십시오.
Since this movie is planned for a China-only release, there is nothing else that the Korean viewers can do aside from explaining the situation and spreading the word.
There is little time left as the additional shooting will take place for a week immediately after shooting of the final episode of the drama.
