The history of the RNCM can be traced back to 1893, with the foundation of the Royal Manchester College of Music with Sir Charles Hallé as Principal. e RNCM was formed in 1973 from the merger of the Royal Manchester College of Music with the Northern School of Music (founded 1920).
RNCM is one of the Royal Schools of Music and Queen Elizabeth II is Patron of the College. Today the RNCM is a thriving conservatoire with more than 700 students at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
