The new
In front of the Brown University, a Chinese girl is standing quietly. Everyone knows her, the only senior new student, no one knows why she can enter the top university as a senior. In fact, she also feels impossible.
In June, she got the letter from her mom. Yes, a letter, in nowadays, everyone use the internet, but she received a letter, from her mom, with out the address form the sender. The most strangest thing is that her mom died 7 years ago, Kimi saw her was pushing down by a car.
The letter always told her where she would live and study next year and who should her find, also, had an air ticket in it. Her pass port has a lot of visas and won’t overdue.
She found her dorm easily. A very tiny room with two beds in the wall. One shelf next to the bed, and some books are on it. It have a little gazebo. The branches go into the room make some bees fly in. And then, she saw her roommate. An tall Asian girl who can just speak English. She is Lily, she said she born in America and her parents went to Africa last year.
“How’s yours parents?” asks Lily.
“My mom died 7 years ago.” says Kimi, she doesn’t want her roommate know her secret that early so that regard her as a stranger.
“What about your father?”
“Father,....” In Kimi’s mind, she can’t found a man she can called him father. Her mom never told her, although she asked a lot of times. In her memory, her mom and she move to Shanghai from an island when she was 3, and she can’t remember every thing before that.
“I don’t have a father” whispers Kimi.
“er...I’m sorry to hear that. Let’s go and…” Kimi doesn’t hear anything else Lily says after. Her brain is full of a word--Father.
Her last name is Li, is the only evidence of her father, but there are so many Li in the world. It’s the most popular last name in China, hardly see in other country. So she is sure she is an Chinese, not a Japanese or a Korean, or what ever conturies she knows.
The first day at school. Lily guides her to have each classes. It’s luckily they almost have the same schedule. There are not too many students in the classes so they can meet every one in the first day and make many friends. The professors are friendly to them, the courses are not easy for Kimi. Because she was in France and spoke French last whole year, she forget a lot of English words.
“Your English is not bad, did you take TOELF test?” asks Lily.
“What’s the TOELF? I never heard it!” Kimi feels odd.
“Well… it’s a test for foreigner,” Lily answers normally, “how can you never heard it. It’s a norm for the foreign student, may be they didn’t regard you as a foreign.”
“That’s so strange, I didn’t give any my grade to those schools I were in, how they enroll me?” Thinks Kimi.
“Never mind. What’s the next class?” Lily doesn’t find any thing wrong.
“Calculous!”
“OHOHO!” yelling Lily, “There is a very handsome boy in this class, many girls full in love with him!”
“And so do you!” Kimi says loudly with laughing.
“Yea…..h, I’m serious, help me. He is very charming, you will see him, soon, and you’ll love him.” Lily seems be crazy.
“A charming...boy? You are kidding me, I won’t full in love with an American, I’ll only love Chinese.”
“He is an Asian!” says Lily excited.
“O my god,” Kimi almost mad, “stop your speech, I don’t want any boy friend!”
They are walking in a path with many flowers on both sides, from one building to the other one. The breeze makes her feel felicity, although her friend just be crazy, but it’s the first time she has the feeling that she is a normal person who has a friend, who is not alone, who won’t feel unsafe anymore. In fact, she didn’t have any friend before. Other people all thought she was very strange and it made her thought there were some people want to kill her.
“Two minutes left. RUN!!!” shouted Lily.
“This is the first class in this year, so we.... Ladies, you are late for 30 seconds!” says Ms. Betty, the professor in this class, “the punish for you guys is minus 2 points to your first term grade!” A lot of students sitting in the class, and most of them are girls. It’s the most large number of girl-students in a math class that in the classes Kimi has ever saw.
“What?” shout Lily and Kimi, oh no, not only them, but also the whole class.
“That’s my rule, this is my class!” Ms.Berry says without thinking, “Well, return to the subject. This year, we will have an assistant, he also is a doctoral student, Sirius Chen.”
“How did you know that?” whispers Kimi.
“The message is faster than you think. Every girl is waiting for him, that’s why so many girls signed up for the math class.” says Lily.
At this moment, Sirius goes into the classroom. “I think the punishment is kind of grievous. You can just minus 2 points from their first quiz,” says Sirius in calm, “Hi, everybody, I’m Sirius!”
“That’s a good idea…” while Ms.Berry is saying, most of the girls are looking at Sirius in the amphibolous expressions.
“My work in this class is to answer you guys’ question and help Ms.berry to grade you guys and check your homework.” Sirius says in no expression.

The carzy world
The first week pass, the weather still hot. It’s now 1 o’clock, several students is walking on the street next to the dorm, the goal place either the library or the study hall. Most of professor didn’t let their students relax. However, Kimi can be called the top student, she almost got all “A” in the first quizzes for each subjects expect calculus. The grader either Ms.Berry or Sirius, who misused 10 point for Kimi because of one decimal point. Kimi is sitting on her small bed, the hot weather makes the room feels like a pot which has the boiled water in it. They don’t have an AC, the fan almost no use. The bugs make the room more terrible.
“Why, please give me a reason, why you minus 10 points to me? WHY?” Kimi is yelling at the roof. She is bother by the grader.
“Are there any use for you to shout at a roof?” Lily can’t stand her any more, “Try to find the grader and ask that guy. Shouting in the cool room is much better than shouting in hear.”
“Well, I can also enjoy the cool, good idea!” Kimi says.
“I’ll go with you,” Lily picks her bag up and says, “don’t forget your quiz paper, Please.”
They go down the stairs, the corridor give them a small part of time cool. As soon as they reach the asphalt road. The hot wind makes them dying.
They keep chat, “Some one is following our!” says Kimi, in a very low voice. This feeling is never more familiar, last year she could feel that when she ever walking on streets.
“I didn’t feel that, are you sure, it will be a very serious thing.” says Lily.
“Maybe I’m wrong, I used to feel that, seems like my delusion.” says Kimi.
At that moment, a man, a young man turn in the street and walk toward them in a fast speed. Then, he collides Kimi.
“I’m so sorry, wait a minute, are you Kimi Chen?” asked the man.
“Yes, …How did you know my name?”
“Oh Yeah, er… you are famous!” says the man with excited.
The hot weather let Kimi forget this tiny trouble, she need to find either Ms.Berry or Sirius imminently.
Walking into the teaching building, the cold air take the annoyed of the two girls away.
“Ms.Berry, did you grade this quiz?” asks Kimi.
“Some of, let me see your quiz,” says Ms.Berry, Kimi gives her the paper, “that’s Sirius’, any problem?”
“Yes, he minus 10 points for one decimal point. Do you know where he is now?” says Kimi.
“I don’t know why he did that, but I know where he is. He is in the library, second floor.” says Ms.Berry.
Library is connect to the teaching building, so they get there in 2 minutes. As soon as Kimi sees Sirius, she starts to shouting, never realize she is in the library. “Why you grade me so strict?” She is so angry that begin to crying.
Sirius moves his head from his book slowly, and says in a peace mood: “This is library, if you want to fight, please go out side!”
The librarian can’t stand them any more, she pull these two person out of library, left Lily in the library. She goes out of the library and sees Kimi is sitting on the ground and crying.
“Tell me, do you remember how you created Kimi’s quiz?” Although Lily falls in love with Sirius, she can’t just see her friend crying and doesn’t do anything.
“Kimi, what a puerile name! Who is Kimi, your boy friend?” Sirius mocks them with out thinking. This make the impression of Sirius in Lily’s mind full into the valley. The all love fly alway.
“She is, the girl you just made her cry!” Lily started to yelling.
“That lunatic?” says Sirius, “What’s matter?”
“Why you minus ten points for Kimi because of a decimal point?” Lily finally stop yelling, “I thought you are very kind in class because you help us. Now, I know you just want to act in front of the people, kind and handsome are just masks.”
Sirius looks at Kimi, she is still crying. A strange feeling rise in his mind. To his surprise, he just want to hug her.
“Stop crying,” Sirius yell, he doesn’t want to have this feeling anymore, “I minus 10 points for you because you are the only person in this class never ask me question, though I didn’t any other one.”
“Whh…hat?” Kimi sob, “that’s not fair! You didn’t tell us…and it can’t be a reason to minus my point!”
Lily helps Kimi up and want to leave.
“Shenjingbing.” Kimi says in Chinese in a low voice (that means Lunatic).
“What did you say?” shouts Sirius.
“Shenjingbing!!!” Kimi shouted back.
“Please don’t call me Lunatic.” Sirius turns back a goes into the library.
Lily can’t stand what happened and just realize it’s a language she can’t understand but only Kimi and Sirius can.
“Is that Chinese?” asks Lily, “I don’t know Sirius is from China and he never talk about it，even Ms.Berry doesn’t know that.”
“I don’t care what he is, I just want to get my point back.” Kimi starts to run to Ms.Berry’s office.
Finally, Ms.Berry doesn’t give back the point, she said that’s the class rule, nobody can change.They run out of the teaching building, is 3:00 p.m. now, it’s not that hot but the walkers are more. The spoor of the tear is still on Kimi’s face, with the sweat and the red eyes. She just looks like a rabbit arrest the strangers to look at her. Lily find there is a ice-cream store on the side of street and suggest to eat ice-cream here. However, she doesn’t know that Kimi haven’t eaten ice-cream since she was 3. At that day, Kimi’s mom gave Kimi and her adopted son two cups of ice-cream and 2 hours later, both of them began to vomit, seems never stop.That feeling was so bad and no one knows what happened. Then mom let someone to pick them to the hospital. It was the first time Kimi see the Hospital. As soon as they lay on the bed and have the medicine, they recovery. Now, Kimi always feels nausea when anyone mention the ice-cream.
This story, even Kimi can’t remember clearly.
Kimi goes back to her room, but she can’t forget what Sirius said: “you are the only person in this class never ask me question.” and he did’t answer anyone’s question. What’s want? What’s the purpose?
“Wait a minute, I’m the only one, that means… Lily! You also asked him question!” shouted Kimi.
“Er… Yes. He is still handsome, isn’t he?”
“So you shouted at your idol for me?” asks Kimi.
“Well, you are more important then my idol!” smiled Lily.
On the other side of world, the man is talk to his lord: “I found her, my lord.”

Double Trouble
Kimi runs to the cafeteria. She doesn’t want to miss the lunch.
“What’s Sirius say to you?” asks Lily, Kimi meet her in front of the cafeteria.
“He always want to pick a hole in me, I hate him!” as soon as Kimi finishes her sentence she flies to the food.
“Punnn…” Kimi slides on the ground, “Which one threw the sweet violet on the ground!”
In fact, Kimi is so unlucky these days.
Monday, her cup lost. After she found it, there were a lot of black unknown liquid in it.
Wednesday, when she was walking by the street, she was hurt by the water from the 3rd floor’s flowers, the master was watering the flower. “Hey, did you see any one water flowers use boiled water?” asked Lily.
Saturday, a car almost killed her.
Today, she receive an e-mail that let her to go to the Chinese Embassy in New York City to check her visa. 3 hours’ train makes she so tired. However, when she arrives the Chinese Embassy, the stuffs tell her they just realized they made the mistake. It make Kimi so angry. Goes by the talks, the Embassy finally agree to pay for the train ticket and bring her back to Providence. But Kimi thinks 5 hours drive is too long, so she let them to buy another tickets and find a taxi to bring her back to the dorm. She gets to the New York City Train Station at 8 p.m., she sees some people dress strange standing between 9th and 10th station. They are in the long cuboid hats and yellow long gowns. Kimi just guess they are wizards, and then she realizes today is Halloween. “They must be cost Harry Potter.” Kimi thinks that. She gets into the train at the 8th station. There are air conditioner in the train. It’s much more comfortable them in the dorm. The magical thing is that after she drinks a cup of coffee, she fells asleep.
The impetuous brake wakes her up. She shakes her head and discover the train is at Providence. She runs down the train and hears a stuff is talking to another one. They are complain about the brake. “It was to fierce, I guess it wakes her up.” ”Let us check!”
After Kimi goes down the train, she hears the scream from one of the stuffs.
Nobody is waiting for her, luckily, dorm is not far away from the train station. She back at 12, and tomorrow is Monday. She haven’t finished her math homework.
Tiring make she fall a sleep easily, and the “Trick or Treat” doesn’t finish yet. The tranquil sky with a light moon, a group of wild gooses fly to the south, the whole world seems so peace. Today is mid autumn festival in China, is a day for reunion.
“Class over! See you guys soon. By the way, Kimi, Sirius wants to meet you.” Ms.Berry says. Kimi walks to the desk that Sirius is sitting on. She standing in front of him for a while, but know one say anything. It’s the last period in the morning, Kimi wants to have lunch now. At last, Kimi starts to speak. “What you want to do?”
“I want to say sorry to you for that day.” says Sirius.
“That’s it?” says Kimi, “Can I go lunch now?”
“No, I remind you, you didn’t finish your homework!” says Sirius with a cantankerous smile, “If you can’t finish in 20 minutes your points will be minus.”
Of course Kimi is not the normal person, she takes out her computer and finishes her work in 3 minutes. It makes Sirius shock.
