To Whom it may concern:
I am seeking help to find registration records of Tsueng Tuo Yan*, who attended Ohio State University as a PhD student in 1947 (or 1946) - 1950. He was from China.
I am writing this e-mail in behalf of T.T. Yan's son, Jun, who is attempting to write an biography of his father. T. T. Yan's story is a sad one. After he obtained a PhD from OSU he returned to China. He was persecuted and passed away during the Cultural Revolution in 1972. Jun has been trying to piece together his father's life in the United States as a graduate
student. Jun wants find out what subject his father studied. Importantly, he wants to find out the English spelling of his father's name*. This is important because it would provide a clue for searching other records of his father.
For instance, his father also studied in Harvard University (1944 - 1946) but the search failed, largely due to incorrect spelling of his father's name (T.T. Yan's diploma and other related documents were all destroyed during the Cultural revolution).
If your office is not in charge of old registration records, please direct me to the right place. Your help will be greatly appreciated.
Happy Holidays!
Joy Yang
* possible alternative spelling for T.T. Yan's name:
