Katherine McNamara, also known as Harper Munroe in MTV’s new show, Happylandwas bubbly and gracious as Attract went behind the scenes on all things fashion and beauty. She told us all about her upcoming filming and the different projects and associations she’s active with. Two of the bigger upcoming projects that Katherine will be featured in will be the new Maze Runner as well as the Scorch Trial.
One of the groups Katherine works with is called Radio Lollipop, and their goal is to help entertain children being treated in hospitals. Before coming to the shoot, Katherine was actually at a children’s hospital in downtown bringing Nintendo 3Ds’s for the children to play with. Katherine is such an inspiration in everything she does, and she gathers inspirations from the simplest things. It is clear that she leaves an everlasting impression on anyone and everyone she talks to!
Q&A:
Attract: Where do you mostly shop?
Katherine: Aritzia is one of my all time favorite stores. It has so much variety but all on the cutting edge of fashion. While set for a movie near one of their locations, I was shopping there so much the storeowner offered me a job! Wildfox Couture is another one of my current loves. They have these amazing oversized sweaters that I just can’t get enough of. Ted Baker and BCBGeneration are my favorite for events – they have such classic pieces that always have a fun flair. Vintage stores are always the most fun though. You can find the most unique pieces!
Attract: What is your style like on a day off?
Katherine: My style in general is classic with a bit of an edge. I love taking pieces with classic silhouettes and adding an accessory or a fun print or something to make it really young and fun. Although if I’m just running errands on a day off, I’m usually in jeans, boots, and a flannel!
Attract: Is there anything you have to incorporate into all of your ensembles?
Katherine: Definitely fun shoes. I always try and find pairs that are unique and versatile. Sometimes I’ll buy a new pair and be just completely obsessed with them for a good while. You’d be surprised and how many looks can be inspired by one pair of shoes!
Attract: What would you say is a staple piece that every woman should have in her closet?
Katherine: Without question, a little black dress. You can never go wrong with it, and are an infinite number of ways to style it. Shoe possibilities are endless; you can wear it with heels, boots or even Keds. If you add a sweater or statement jewelry, it’s a completely different look.
Attract: Tell us some of your beauty secrets.
Katherine: Drinking lots of water is the one secret that nobody thinks about, but it’s so important. If you are hydrated, your skin has a healthy glow that will let your inner beauty shine. I would also have to say to keep it simple with makeup and use it to enhance your natural beauty. Let your makeup express your personality, don’t use it to cover up your natural unique features.
Attract: What are the 3 products you always have in your purse?
Katherine: Chapstick—usually rosebud salve, Listerine breath strips, and a bag of my favorite tea!

Katherine: Honestly, I’ll listen to anything – I don’t like to limit my musical influences. I am always looking to broaden my horizons and find some new style to fall in love with. Each artist has a unique way of expressing themselves through music and it’s so interesting discovering their point of view. As far as artists I’m loving at the moment, Taylor Swift, Meghan Trainor, Jessie J, and Ed Sheeran are dominating my current playlists.
