I think a huge part in his recent improvement has to do with Byron Scott utilizing Lin's natural strengths. Not only giving Lin more PnR plays, but also putting in a more cohesive unit with Lin/Young/Davis.
I have believed since the beginning of the season that the Lakers' most optimal line-up was (and advanced stats showed it too): Lin, Kobe, Young, Boozer, and Davis.
Young's shooting to help space the floor, Boozer/Davis to run the PnR, and Davis to provide some post defense. It just boggled my mind why Byron Scott rarely tried putting Lin and Davis together early when they showed a lot fo chemistry together in the preseason.

It's almost as if floor spacing, and pick and rolls helps a slashing PG's game... I see people saying Byron is tanking, but it's like he just figured out how to maximize his players strength. Ed Davis seems to be getting more PnR opportunities too.
Starting Price over Lin and Clarkson is just beyond me... when we were actually trying to win, Byron thought starting Sacre and Price would make this team better. Now he's playing Davis and Lin together. He's spacing the floor more, running, and the number of picks i've seen in the last few games for our slashers (Clarkson and Lin), have gotten them to play like PGs, and not the Derek Fisher role.
It's kinda ridiculous Scott has been trying to win now with this strategy. Plenty of Lakers fan knew this is our best offensive lineup all the way back in preseason. Whatever changes Scott makes defensively... it's not happening, we'll be shitty defensively no matter what unless we get defensive players, but he systematically managed to kill our offense for half the season.

Postgame interview he said he's been allowed to control the ball more and run more his style with the pick and rolls. James Worthy saying how BS has helped Lin develop with the benchings was hilarious.

The system makes the player, before it was hand the ball to whoever wants it so they can ISO, lately Lin has bn getting a ton of picks from the bigs and getting free.
I mean it took 60 games and a # of injuries to his players for Scott to realize this, but better late than never!

he is capable player, i think he is able to average 15/7/3 under the right situation

If rondo considers about leaving the Mav's I think Lin could average those numbers if he were to sign with them.

The real question is if we re-sign him in an offseason with a weak pool in point guards other than Dragic, Rondo, and Jackson.

No way! He had his chance to show what he can do. I think it's too late in the season to get a spot with the Lakers next year. Any improvement now is just increasing his trade value imo.

If he's coming in cheap, shows improvements, and wants to be here, I see no reason for him not to come back. Yeah he's terrible at times but if he came at a cheap expendable contract I would definitely take it over overpaying another point guard.

Been watching most of the games this season. Noticed that Lin recently eliminated his Harden neck flail when driving to to the cup. Glad to see him stop doing that.

He isn't jump stopping in the middle of the lane much anymore recently. He's really trying to finish at the rim.
