This film, in my judgment, is more than a film, it’s an experience. Through this experience, we see the tremendous sufferings Christ has done for us, we see the inconceivable burdens Christ has carried for us. He fought the battle we couldn’t fight for ourselves ---- Strangely, I thought about the scene Neo fights Agent Smith in the middle of the pouring rain, all the other “Agent Smiths” are watching, they don’t know Neo is fighting for the very freedom of their own. We are the sinners, we are the other “Agent Smiths”, we all put Him on the cross. ---- He lost his life for us so we can have an eternal one.
For all who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted. (Luke 14:11) Many Kings in the history became dust and dirt, but Jesus of Nazareth who carried the cross for us, and died, is lifted up and haloed. By loving one another today is the best testimony that God is living with us.
Mel Gibson’s R-Rated Gospel received more criticism than Janet Jackson’s “wardrobe malfunction” in the Super bowl half time show. Why? Led by New York Times and other so-called mainstream media, today’s society is so conquered by secular pop cultures and liberalism. They think they can answer all the small and technical questions without answering the ultimate question. There is more political correctness, less standard of right and wrong, more “nuanced” politicians, less conviction of standing up in the face of evil.
BTW, If Anti-Semitism is a concern for some people, then according to this standard, “Ten Commandments” is Anti-Egyptian, “Braveheart” is Anti-English, “Kill Bill” is Anti-Japanese, “The Last Samurai” is Anti-American.
Can we separate a piece of art from its interpreter? Art is indeed subject to the viewer’s eyes. The biggest debate in the early last century --- at least in the physics world --- is that light is article or wave. Some said it is article, some said it is wave, only because the viewers (experiment angles) are different. At least in the quantum world, the viewers (interpreters) are the part of the objects they are looking at. You really cannot separate the objects and viewers, and tell me is the Schrodinger's cat is live or dead, or the precise momentum and location of a particle simultaneously.
So, it’s hardly convincing to hear someone say, “Let’s only look at the film”. Furthermore, I believe, our spirit can impact the world besides sense the world, same as the viewers who killed Schrodinger's cat by “look at” the cat. Our level of spirit, love, sense of conviction and passion can lift up ourselves in our own situations, also can lifted up people around us.
One of the troubling things is that some news paper movie critics complained that “The Passion” is too bloody are the same people who praise Quentin Tarantino’s “Pulp Fiction”, “Reservoir Dogs” and “Kill Bill”. Likewise, people (non-Jewish) worried this film is Anti-Semitism are the same people who worried American Middle East policy is too pro-Israel. That brings up my favorite stories that the “Pro-Environment” California Democratic governor candidate Arianna Huffington has 29-car garage, and always flight on private jet; The Anti-Outsourcing presidential candidate John Kerry’s campaign 1-800 number are answered by Canadian call center.
If there is concern that this film has over stated Christ’ suffering, please review a medical and physical examination by Dr. William Edwards on this historic event. “The Journal of the American Medical Association” --- March 21, 1986, Volume 256.

Christ bears our sin in an unthinkable way, so we can be free. It is a Grace that has given to us by our Savior, that all we do is to take it. He is the way and the truth and the life. Without Him, can we answer those worldly problems in our lives by worldly wisdom? How can you hold the moonbeam in your hands? How can you propose a girl without a Rock?? --- To be honest with you, I have some real life lessons on that part :-).
Life is real and has meaning and purpose, He helps us to realize that by going to that cross.
