这篇文章的观点没什么新奇之处，抱有西方对中国的一贯态度。但目的是学英文的，所以主要关注文中用到的一些词汇和句型，不过对于文中一些典型的吐槽点也做了标注。

1. move in perfect synchronicity. 这里Synchronicity是Synchronous的名词形式，这里还是perfect synchronicity~注意搭配介词in
2. go out of fashion. 这里作者说大型军事游行（Vast military parade）在别的地方都已经go out of fashion了，就亚洲还热衷，满满地吐槽感。
3. strut their stuff. 这是一个idiom. Strut本身有 支柱，撑杆（noun.）趾高气扬的步态（noun.）以及趾高气扬的走（verb.）的意思。这里惯用语，是表示 卖弄，露一手。也可以说show off. 不过字典中说，especially at dancing or performing. 嗯。。
4. lead up to. 也是个idiom，表示渐渐引入，导致的意思。文中用在表示中国抗战的阶段：the years leading up to and during the second world war.
5. involving. 这个词很熟悉，但是自己平时很少有意识地想起并运用，所以mark下，文中用在强调本次阅兵的特殊性，the first involving foreign troops.

6. come out of sequence. 这个不确定是不是idiom，但是有时想表达这种 不按套路 的意思的话，还是值得借鉴的。
7. befitting. 意思是to be suitable and good enough for sb./sth. 特别强调仅用于第三人称和分词。文中例句： The government described the display as an international celebration, befitting the 70th anniversary of an Allied victory.
8. mouthpiece. 终于见到 喉舌 的英文单词，嗯，文中说 the People's Daily 是我党的 mouthpiece.
9. military might. 很实用的词，第一次知道might本身名词有威力的意思。。
10. tone down. 嗯，就是tone down.

11. reviewing stand. 原来检阅部队用的动词是review.
12. 纯mark吐槽：including Vladimir Putin (hardly a notable guardian of the international order, but never mind)
13. clout. 影响力，表示拼写上比influence简单多了，而且还多了层power的意思，但是第一次见，eg: political/financial clout.
14. exert influence on. exert很适合和influence搭配啊
15. capricious. 这个词纯是为了mark很适合形容North Korean. 任性。。就是不一定能想起来。

16. goose-stepping. 嗯，正步
17. stomach 动词有忍受的意思，比较形象。这里忍不住吐槽下西方就是抓住89不放啊。
18. bent on sth./doing sth. 刚开始不知道这个idiom，只知道bent弯曲的意思，导致整句话没读懂。。原来是determined to do sth.
19. The Road to Rejuvenation. 嗯，复兴之路的英文版，好难拼写的Rejuvenation,是为了突出其难么。。
20. purports to do sth. 开始以为purport是purpose的动词形式，结果人家本身有名词含义，the general meaning of sth. 动词是 自称、标榜的意思。

21. semi-colonial, semi-feudal 半殖民地半封建，虽然第一次见英文版，还是好熟悉。。
22. Opium War 鸦片战争
23. Weaponry 同weapons的区别是，这里强调某一类
24. be of concern to 主要是用法，至于China's military might, is always of concern to America.
25. guerrilla fighting. 游击战

26. bear, take the brunt of sth. 承担主要压力，这里作者又为老蒋鸣不平了。
27. gloss over. gloss做名词，除了有光泽的意思外，也表虚假的外表，这里固定搭配，表示掩盖，掩饰
28. amid 同involve,比较熟但不常用。文中：amid a fierce campaign against corruption
29. upon taking office. take office 上台的意思，upon doing 表示刚刚
30. grumble about. grumble感觉比complain更形象的一个词

31. indulge 先说下搭配吧， indulge in sth. or indulge yourself (with sth.) 表沉迷，当然，作者这里在说中国的军费开支（military spending）的事啦
32. 最后是文中最后的那句话，调侃讽刺了一整篇，最后还是比较正经的:
But the message he wanted to send with the show was as clear as the skies: China is resurgent and so are the armed forces, of which Mr Xi is the undisputed commander-in-cheif.
这里resurgent对应的动词是resurge,名词是resurgence.也有复兴之意，应该和上面的Rejuvanation表达的意思差不多，但复兴之路为什么不用The road to resurgence呢？不懂1。另外，文中调侃天气的地方也不少，不过the sky和the skies的区别呢？不懂2. 最后，undisputed, 哈哈，不服来辩？
