Casey Affleck’s the captain now.
Based on the true story of what’s called the most daring rescue in the history of the Coast Guard, Disney’s The Finest Hours focuses the crews of two severely damaged oil tankers off the coast of New England during a massive nor’easter in February of 1952.
Affleck plays Raymond Sybert in the film, the senior officer aboard the SS Pendelton. In this exclusive clip from The Finest Hours, Raymond takes charge as the ship’s crew argue over the last remaining lifeboat.
“Sounds like you’re the man now, Sybert,” says one of the crew members after Sybert’s impassioned speech to his shipmates. “I hope you didn’t just kill us all.”
Directed by Craig Gillespie, and starring Affleck, Chris Pine, Ben Foster, Holliday Grainger, John Ortiz, Kyle Gallner, John Magaro, and Eric Bana, The Finest Hours is out in theaters on Jan. 29.
