Finally finished color grading the film I shot for Dai sijie last year which will be out in theaters this may, while doing the edit got to chat with him again about film philosophy etc. We started talking about the Polaroids of Andrei Tarkovsky, he then mentioned that Tarkovsky would always talk in a very mystical way about things, which he then calmly mentions that he has met him numerous times back in France, to our disbelief we then asked him who else did he meet when he was younger. He continued to say that he was invited once to meet Akira Kurosawa in Tokyo to show him is short film! Had we not have asked we would of never known, learned a lot about humility that day, and how again knowing the importance of mastership.
