"Perfect pitch is something you can use. It’s very useful, because when you hear a song, it’s like somebody is reading a book to you. It’s not like low pitch, medium pitch, high pitch. It’s [goes quickly through the tonal scale, known as solfège], “do re mi fa sol la ti do.” A “do” can only be a “do.” A “la” can only be a “la.” It’s like words. That’s what it is. It’s somebody talking to you. So when I listen to a piece of music, I know every chord, and every note — even if I’ve never heard it before. And that’s very useful."
