Apparently I'm late to this discovery. A producer by the name of OMFG, who was believed to be a girl, is actually a guy who collaborated with a girl to be the face of the music. His music wasn't being noticed under a different moniker. But once he started this OMFG project with this girl and tricked virtually everyone into believing she was the producer, popularity ensued. I don't know how to feel about this. It's quite the publicity stunt, and clearly it worked. And hey, the guy makes good music. But still... I mean I can't quite articulate how this makes me feel. As a feminist, I feel kind of cheated. I was happy to find a female producer to look up to. I suppose I'd be more upset if the girl wasn't in on it. It's not exactly like he catfished his fanbase. The girl is real and was actually interacting with the fanbase. She's just not who we thought she was. I guess we'll have to see what he has to say for himself now that he's officially letting everyone in on the secret. Man, this is weird.
