I first discoveredthe power of dialogs long ago when I was on my way to visit Jessica,who hadrecently moved to another town .Befoer I left ,a mutual friend,Bryan,told me hehad been seeing Jessica but broke it of suddenly with no explanation.He wantedme to know why he had done it.When I got to her house,Jessic told me her sideof the story an how ,to ease her pain,she had written Bryan an angry,unsentletter in her journal.She surprised herself by spontaneously writing a replyfrom him .When she read this to me,I was amazed that it was almost exactly whatBryan had told me .Even when we are hurt or angry,a centain part of us knowsmore than we think about the motivations of others and ,on ourhearts,understands it.Nevertheless,wo often choose to stay at a level of “hedid it just to be mean”or “I don’t understand why she left;Igave hereverythings”.
