Swiftly serena turned on her heel and walked away from Lord Wortham.She had no idea for the moment where she was going,moving blindly ,seeing nothing in the fury of her anger.She heard someone speak her name,but she did not stop;then with a sense of relief which she was too incensed to realise.She saw Lord Vuclan's huge shoulders looming above her.She stopped at his side.He turned towards her and only under the intentness of his gaze did she realise that she was quivering and that her lips were trembling,while her eyes were large with unshed tears.
赛琳娜迅速转身离开了Wortham。她不知道她要到哪里去，只是盲目地走着，她愤怒得对眼前的任何东西都视而不见。她听见有人在叫她的名字，但她没有停下来。她看见沃肯宽大肩膀的阴影隐约出现在她的上方，然后，一种愤怒的情绪被释放了出来。她停下脚步站在沃肯身边。沃肯转身面对着她，在他专注的目光下，赛琳娜才意识到自己的身体正在发抖，嘴唇哆嗦，眼泪在眼眶里来回地打转。

Slowly Serena felt her agitation subside.She knew that Lord Vulcan was talking to give her time to recover herself.She knew that above all things she must control herself.She must not break down in front of these strange people.Lord Vulcan drew out his snuff-box .It was of fine chased gold set with emeralds and diamonds.He examined it as if he were seeing it for the first time. 
赛琳娜慢慢感觉到心中的怒火已经在渐渐地平息。她了解沃肯和她谈话的目的，是为了给她一些时间缓和自己糟糕的心情。她知道自己首先必须控制好自己的情绪，她决不能在这群陌生人面前垮下。沃肯掏出了他的鼻烟盒，那是一个华丽的金盒子，盒盖上镶嵌着绿色的宝石和钻石。他审视着这个小物件，好像他第一次看到它一样。

“That man …Lord Wortham ,”she said , “I cannot be near him.If he is next to me at dinner…”
“He will not be,”Lord Vuclan said quietly . “I will see that it is arranged.”
“Thank you ,”Serna whispered,and then impulsively added : “Could I retire ? May I?”
Lord Vuclan looked at her for one moment.
“And run away ?”he asked.
Serena’s chin went up .With an immense effort she managed to smile at him.
“You are right ,my lord. He should be the one to run.”
There was a faint smile on the Marquis’s lips ,and Serena met his eyes she heard a voice she recognised.

Eudora laughed ,and Serena remembered that someone else too had laughed at her repartee.She had not known that Lord Vulcan was standing beside her when she was speaking with the Marchioness ,but when heard his laughter she turned to see who it was and realised it was the first time she had ever heard him laugh .He was genuinely amused ,and it made him seem younger ,much younger ,until his habitual mask of cynical boredom crept over his face again.
“Touche ,ma mere,” he said softly.
Eudora 笑了起来，Serena记起当时还有人也因为自己的巧妙调侃笑出了声。她不知道当她和夫人谈话的时候，Vuclan正站在她的边上。Serena听见笑声，转过头想看看是谁时，第一次她意识到她以前从来没有听到过Vuclan的笑声，他开朗的笑容，让他看上去显得年轻，更加的年轻，直到他习惯佩戴的玩世不恭的倦怠面具再次挂到了他的脸上。
“真好笑，妈妈。”他轻柔地说。
The Marchioness looked at him with a glint in her eye.For a moment it seemed to Serena that everyone in the room faded away and the three of them were alone –she ,the Marchioness and Lord Vuclan –and that something tense and vibrating was passing between them.It was beyond expression ,beyond her comprehension ,and yet it invaded her consciousness,making her heart throb a little faster.
侯爵夫人盯着儿子，眼光闪了一下。那一刻，Serena感觉其他的人好像都消失的无影无踪，除了自己，侯爵夫人和Lord Vuclan，而某种紧张的颤动的东西正从他们之间穿过。那种感觉，她无法表达出来，也超出了她的理解能力，然而它却侵入到她的意识之中，使她的心跳不由自主地加快。

这两天忙着看英国亚马逊的碟－－DR.who 的DVD,除了正片外还有MG的访谈。He is very very charming!!!!那双眼睛啊！迷梦如雾！2008年的MG虽然已经半百，魅力依旧不减当年。这次又是穿一件白衫。非常非常有魅力的男人。他出现的时候，我刚好不在电视机前，但一听到他的声音－－温柔深沉，动人心弦，就知道他来了。太高兴了！！
