乐高公司创办于丹麦，至今已有80年的发展历史，追本溯源，还得从它的金字招牌LEGO说起。商标“LEGO”的使用是从1934年开始，其语来自丹麦语“LEg GOdt”，意为“play well”（玩得快乐），并且该名字首先迅速成为乐高公司在Billund地区玩具工厂生产的优质玩具的代名词。多年来，“LEGO”图标也变化了多种形式，最新的图标是1998年制作，它是在1973年的版本基础上稍作调整而成，使之更便于在媒体上传播和识别。第一个生产地在丹麦的一所红房子中，那里就是乐高开始的地方。
