My A brings you some of Asia's most original songs in （Peking） center stage this week is Hong Kong new soul artist Khalil Fong.
大同：
I'm Khalil Fong, and you are watching MY M.
配音：
The singer, song writer has written numerous hits for many Chinese artists. The （soulture grand of） new soul themes has taken the Chinese music industry by storm.
大同：
The songs of Khalil Fong's, basically, I think the sound of a lot of soul artists, or new soul artists , R&B artists in the west let's say. But in Asia, there are 20 artists who actually doing soul music. We might have artists doing R&B, we might have artists doing hip-hop. But I guess as soul as still pretty unexplored.
配音：
Born in Hawaii, Khalil and his family moved to Shanghai at the age of 6 to learn more about the Chinese culture before moving to Hong Kong.
大同：
I group this thing to my dad's records, my dad's a drummer, so I would hear Stevie Wonder, 一堆人名. Things that spark me to want to become a singer was when I saw a movie around 4 or 5, I saw La Bamba. After that movie, I had that holy dream of, you know, kids want to be superman or they want to be batman or transformer. But for me, I want to be Richie Balan.(音）

Khalil's road to become a recording artist stared when he was only 16.
大同：
Cos about 14 or 16, I started to send my demos up to record companies. About 3 years into the conversation, is about the time to sign about the management routine, just change. The next 2 years, we're again from scratch （till it was a whole）. And after that, I singed.


配音：
Khalil's debut album Soulboy was released on September 18, 2005.
大同：
That album, conceptually, was kind based upon what i wanted to say initially in my music which was very, sort of concept of unity, wonders of mankind. Or there's a saying the world is one country, and mankind are citizens. And I want to take a step of that global view. And musically, you know, a bit of jazz, a bit of soul.
配音：
The first single from Soulboy titled Little Sister was written for someone very special in Khalil's life.
大同：
This first single from the first album, Little Sister, Chinese to be 妹妹. And she's my cousin. First I was very, I guess it was very global or unity, that kind of theme. So that was the sort of family element.
配音：
Soulboy (gardener） Khalil instant recognition wining a number of wards, including the IFPI best selling male new artist wards and natural radio new artist ward. Kahlil's debut reviewed the fresh new music style both vocally and musically.
大同：
I wrote this song, Southern Sound 南音 which was about a real musician, this is a real real person. His name is 阿炳 and he's blind, a 二胡 player. He struggled throughout his life, music. But at the end, I think the idea he never gave up on the dream of his. So I want to write about this character.
配音：
Khalil has a natural ability to create an （east meat to west web） and his music is unique.
大同：
The third single from my first album was Spring Breeze. That song which was 春风吹 is, I say it's pretty special in （sensities and 不知道这个单词）. It's a mixture of Chinese we say 小调, which is Chinese folk song. And it gets a very, I guess a （不知道这个单词）elements. And I mix that with R&B. It's very, I guess that will be my version or my style of Chinese R&B.


The lyrically of me that's what I sung, because lyrics paints a really nice picture of how, you know, sometimes seasons, you know in spring, sometimes those seasons which bring back sweet memories all the time, sometimes your （timers/tempos）. 
You know, the first album I got to learn technical aspects, and I got to learn how lots of things could be done, alternative ways. And I think it gave me a new, from the new album a lot of stuffs and (were fexed up) of course.

Khalil debut new album was well seen among Chinese music listeners and critics.
大同
We are all pretty happy with the feedback, cos we gained, I guess we gained a sort of a level of recognition in the way for just doing music that not usually chosen to be done. And it was great to know that there are still a lot of people who actually still like this music, for the sake of listening to music.
配音：
Even though it was well received, Khalil was far from being satisfied.
大同：
A lot of people actually like that a lot, for me I am the most unsatisfied with from the technical aspect, because I would feel I could done it better, (your words are critic. So those to you are "Ah").
