一、that 作代词的用法
That 代替前面提到的单数可数名词或不可数名词、前面所说的情况或表示刚才所提到的某事。如

二、that 在从句中用法
①作连词的用法。它可以引导名词性从句、定语从句、状语从句和强调句型hat 引导主语从句、表语从句、同位语从句时，只起引导词的作用，不做成分，不能省略。
② That 引导宾语从句时，可省略。
③that 引导定语从句：先行词是不定代词、先行词被序数词或形容词最高级所修饰、先行词被all,any every, each, few, little, no ,some 等修饰、先行词被the only, thevery, the same 所修饰、先行词既有人又有物时、句中已有who 时用that 。
④that 引导状语从句时，往往跟其他词搭配使用。如 now that, so that, such ⋯that 。
