Full Metal Panic
-Full of laughs. 
Yugioh DM
-I like the card game. Plus, the beginning part was really creative, with all the real-life situations in the duels (such as causing a monster to fall and crush other monsters)
The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi
-Definitely hilarious, high quality, and an intersting script
Digimon
-Nostalgic. Better than Pokemon (IMO) 'cause they have different stuff every time, instead of sterotypes with different names.
Dragonball Z
-What can I say... a classic if there was ever one. Everyone loves martial arts =) And everyone knows about the Super Saiyans ;) Plus Vegeta's (in)famous "Over 9000!!!!"
Chobits
-One of the earlier classic love stories I watched. The everyday life was touching. Definitely a classic. 
============Clannad=============
-THE classic, if there ever was one. If you haven't watched it before, then go watch it now. Plus the afterstory. The movie doesn't matter, just go watch it now... of all the animes I've watched, this is THE anime. It just can't be compared to the rest... the concept of "family" will be forever changed for you. 
School Days
-...a warning to all adolescents. Mind how far things develop, and take up responsibility. Note that those with a weak heart shouldn't watch this. 
Memories Off (series)
-Ok this isn't an anime, it's a graphic novel on the PS2, PC, and PSP. But even so, I'm still reccomending it here. Mostly, Memories Off 1 and Memories Off 2. And MO4, and MO5. Skip MO3 if you don't like the style... Just play it. 
*This is the game that inspired me to continue learning how to play the piano.

Shakugan no Shana
-Great quality, and originality in its world setting. Well, mostly original. Giant scary babies and floating face balls get old after a while =)
Minor faulties don't matter that much. It's the whole thing that counts, and the whole thing's great.

Planeterian
-
A gane with only 2 hours of gameplay... 100% graphic novel, without any choice events... you'd think it'd suck, before you played it. 
As a result, it's short but deep. The game's packed with thought-provoking lines, and the whole setup's an amusing contrast with the beginning of the history of mankind.
Play it, watch it, read it... whatever, just make sure you go over the story at least once.

Air
-
An anime based on a game. Seems like the Japanese have found a way to make easy money... novel/game-->game/novel-->anime. 
Anyway, the reason I'm suggesting this is...
How do I explain it... It's the same level as Clannad. 
One of the 3 major KEY animes(Air+Clannad+Kanon).
While MUCH shorter, the similarities are noticible in the "AIR" story (especially after Yukito "leaves"). 
I don't really know how I should suggest this... perhaps I should grade these animes? This would rank on the top with Clannad and Planetarian...

Grading these animes:
Since I'm suggesting these to you, none of them are lackluster animes. So even if an anime gets a "1", it's still a nice anime. It just got a lower score in comparison with the masterpieces.
Remember, this is just my opinion. You're free to feel what you like. 
*The higher the number, the better the score.
In most cases:
1: A normal anime that I like. 
2: An anime that's nice and has some neat features worthy of noting. 
3: An anime with originality and middle/high quality in some departments (graphic, plot, etc.).
4: An anime with originality and high quality in basically all deparments.
