Espanyol have completed the signing of Athletic Club Bilbao midfielder Ander Iturraspe on a one-year contract, the club have confirmed.
The holding midfielder has spent the entirety of his professional career at the Basque club - scoring three goals across 320 appearances since his first-team debut in the 2008/09 campaign.
Following the 2013–14 season, Iturraspe was called up by Spanish national team manager Vicente Del Bosque to his 30-man provisional squad for the 2014 World Cup.
However, despite playing the full 90 minutes in a friendly victory over Bolivia - his first of two caps - the midfielder did not make the final squad for the tournament.
It had been confirmed in May that the midfielder would be departing alongside fellow long-serving midfielders Mikel Rico and Markel Susaeta this summer.
Iturraspe is the second summer arrival at the RCDE Stadium following the deal to land central defender Bernardo from fellow Catalan club Girona.
Espanyol will be competing in Europe next season for the first time since losing the 2007 UEFA Cup final against Sevilla.
