Elliott knocks the audience off their feet with his rendition of Donny Hathaway's "A song for you".
Elliott's performance moved many in the audience to tears and was later called one of the best in the history of the programme.

The highlight of Elliott's experience on American Idol may have occurred on the night of April 25th
when he performed Donny Hathaway's hit "A song for you".
Elliott's performance of the soulful love ballad is regarded as one of the top performances in the history of the show.

Elliott Yamin struggled through much of his childhood- he suffered from severe allergies and
 an ear ailment that eventually cost him most of the hearing in his right ear. 
He was also diagnosed with diabetes. 
But Elliott could always sing. 
And when he heard American Idol palnned to audition contestants he drove more than 11 hours
and stood in line all day before getting his opportunity to pursue stardom.
From among thousands of hopefuls, Elliott was picked to go to Hollywood,
where he made the most of his chance during Idol’s fifth season.
Elliott worked hard to hone his talent, eventually finishing third in that year’s competitive field.
Elliott has since gone on to release two very popular and successful albums and tour the world,
where he continues to find new enthusiastic fans, thanks to his soulful voice and zeal for performing.
