I don’t think I will watch another movie so many times, as many times as The King’s Speech, to the point where I can memorize some scenes to a T.
I think for me I love King George 6 because I can relate to him in many ways. We both had knee cap correction, braces, speech impediment and suffered from parental neglect.
It’s inspiring to me to see someone who has no way to escape his duty, ‘indentured servitude’ as Lionel puts it, takes on the baton and drag himself across the finishing line.
I guess I like about that because it reminds me that everyone has their own cross to carry and it’s no one else’s responsibility to carry it for you. No matter who you are, be it a king or peasant, you have to conquer your own demon.
