The Serie A side have recently agreed new five-year deals with Argentine star Ezequiel Lavezzi and Uruguayan international Walter Gargano, and Hamsik is now expected to follow suit.
The 22-year-old Slovak international has three-and-a-half years left on his existing deal, but his agent Fulvio Marucco is said to be in discussions with the club to extend his stay at the San Paolo until June 2015.
Napoli might also include a rescission clause in the deal to fend off interest from top European sides, while Hamsik is allegedly prepared to forego invoking FIFA’s Article 17 to sever his ties with the club in the future.
The former Brescia man will also be rewarded financially, his wages gradually increasing to around €2 million per season in his final year.
