As the development of economics, the economic globalization sweeps the world, from New York and London to Beijing and Tokyo, at a staggering rate. When it refers to the culture diverseness among the west countries, developed and prosperous, and our nation, people’s opinions are divergent on such a controversial issue. The overwhelming majority accepted would support that we should selectively learn how to use their culture to build our country, which we loved most. For that, the importance of the strategies of the English teaching is increased, since the culture is to us likes the water is to fish.
Now we have the question what’s the best strategy for English teaching? Different people have different applies. The children might give a guileless and useless answer, to play and have fun in the class. The parents will give a realistic answer, to practice as much as possible. As to the teachers, they frequently have no answer for the question for they just have no idea if they have done that in an efficient way. Thus it’s urgent to find an appropriable way to teach English.
The chief strategy with this statement has to do with the appealing lead-in for the English class, especially for the primary students who have no idea what is English. Attractive introduction of English as a language can arise students’ interest, therefore the classroom maybe not only full of bliss but also efficiency. If you lead-in a class properly can directly attract students, product a good motivation to learn. To show a wonderful introduction to your classes need a lot of preparation, such as English songs、the interesting history stories of the development of English , etc, Although preparation does not guarantee perfect lesson, walking into a classroom unprepared is more often than not the beginning of a disastrous lesson. Prepared teachers receive much lesson trust and cooperation from the students.
The second reason why I try to explain the strategies that the teacher should have as much as possible communications with the classes can be summarized as the benefit of the oral communication skills. As the research in the TOEFL test, representative and reliable, the score of the oral test is the lowest among the writing, listening and reading. Our personality attributes to the awkward circumstance. Unfortunately, the oral communication skill plays a more and more important role in this society. Oral English is the foundation of the buildings, without foundation, there is no security; without the security, there are no available buildings. So we teachers should draw more attention in the oral English. For instants, teachers can provide some new and interesting topics for students to practice English for rapid expression, improving student interest and stimulate their thinking, the enthusiasm of students and improve learning efficiency.
The third focus should be post on the efficiency of the class. Why I generally agree with the statement that the efficiency is the most important thing in the English teaching, even the whole educational staffs has to do with the follow reasons. The efficiency of the classroom can play a connecting role, not only review the old knowledge, but also to introduce new knowledge. Where there is a plan, there will be more efficient. We benefit from lesson plan in a number of ways. Firstly, a clear lesson plan will make our teacher be aware of the aims and language contents of the lesson. It also benefit students distinguish the various stages of a lesson and see the relationship between them so that the lesson can move smoothly from one stage to another. We can also think about how the students can be fully engaged in the lesson. When planning the lesson, we also become aware of the teaching aids that are needed.
The critical thinking is commonly lack in Chinese students. The absence of the critical thinking class in our school results the lack. As we all know, English is almost the most accurate language over the world. Without the critical thinking there is no possible for us to learn the Grammatical structure correctly. So the teacher’s responsibilities are to stimulate the students’ critical thinking in order to let them accustom the unique way of thinking in English. They can put forward some typical English thinking methods to the students in some classes. As time goes away, they will be used to think the English questions in the special way differ from Chinese.
From that I have discussed, we may have some clearly and perhaps new cognitions of the English teaching strategies. Overall, we should pay more attention on the English education. As the English is the essential common ability in 21 century, I wish the methods I have showed can give the teachers some useful recommendations in their daily teaching. Our teachers please keep in mind, if you wish to succeed in your English teaching, you should use the patient as your best friend, experience as your reference, prudence as your brother and hope as your sentry.
