Snooker scandal: NotW statement

The News of the World is surprised at Pat Mooney's comments that he felt intimidated whilst in Kiev given his relaxed manner and enthusiasm throughout his stay.
Mr Mooney also had three previous meetings during recent months with our investigations editor at bars and restaurants of his choosing in Edinburgh, a city he knows very well.
We assume Mr Mooney did not feel intimidated during these meetings where he openly discussed John Higgins and match fixing.

In a number of conversations he explained how a snooker game could be fixed, the amount of money required to facilitate it and repeatedly assured us that Mr Higgins would be "relaxed" with the arrangement.
At no time whilst in Kiev did Mr Mooney or Mr Higgins show any signs of being under duress or in any way unhappy at being in our company.
Our film and audio evidence on Mr Mooney and Mr Higgins are available to the World Professional Billiards & Snooker Association.
The News of the World will be publishing further revelations next Sunday.

There seems to be no pressure at all on these two "gentlemen of sport". If they were , as it appears, agreeing to fix matches, then neither should be allowed anywhere near a snooker table again. Snooker , I'm sure, is not the only sport affected by this scourge, and if one reflects on some of the incredible refereeing decisions in football, one wonders just how clean that is. We, the punters, pay the price for the cheats. I suppose it's quite easy to live with the knowledge that you're a cheat and liar, if you have "a little place in Spain," or somewhere, and someone else is paying the mortgage. Let's hope that Higgins is shown to be innocent, but this video is pretty damning.

I was waiting for the media response from these two, and I'm disappointed that they aren't big enough to hold their hands up. Kiss your careers goodbye, gentlemen. You deserve to lose everything you've gained so far. Hopefully there is a way to recoup some of the huge salaries you've earned thus far off the backs of decent people who expected decent sports, not cheats.

还更应该听听另一方，就是下套“钓鱼”的世界新闻报的说法

if this proves to be true then i hope the snooker body comes down heavily on john higgins. i am an avid snooker fan and this can not do snooker any good.

i hope higgins clears out of scotland and goes to his little place in spain to count his pieces of silver.hes brought shame on snooker and cant possibly defend his actions. the only gangsters in the video are him and his creepy manager.

读者贴？呵呵~~我只问是世界新闻报的读者贴么？这个报纸，你知道它是什么报纸么？它会留那些支持希金斯的评论在上面？
不要小瞧那个报纸的手段。你如果去翻翻它臭名昭著的历史记录就知道了。
我不是为希金斯说话，如果赌了，希做的不对，很错！但是那家报纸，却是这件事罪恶的源头。
希如果做了，但至少，在做这件事时，并没有想到会伤害任何一个人的一生！但这家报纸，以及其记者，却完全带有恶意害人的目的，甚至不担心毁掉一个人的一生，一个曾经幸福美满的五口之家！！相比较而言，我觉得后者更不可饶恕！！世界新闻报，把自己的利益建立在那么多人的痛苦之上，不仅仅是希，还有之前的那么多人，对于这种报纸的网站，甚至不该去浏览！！！！

先声明一下，没有冒犯LZ的意思，我知道，LZ也是热爱斯诺克的人。大家都期待找到真相。但如果是世界新闻报，里面的任何内容我都持怀疑态度。它不会鄙视斯诺克，但绝对会有扭曲真相的能力。对希金斯不利的内容，那是必然会不断夸大的

我知道《世界新闻报》名声不佳~但在英国这么下套并不违法
因为在英国口头上的约定也是有一定的法律效力
话说我是因为丁俊晖知道斯诺克这项运动。但是直到今年世锦赛，因为戴维斯，才开始有点喜欢这项运动。

我是说 世界新闻报的报道必然站在它的角度报道 所以尽量夸大一切对希不利的新闻
包括读者区 也自然都是对希不利的帖子
还有 希也是有原则的 即便假球 视频中答应的只是08年开始自己发起的世界系列赛打4局假球 在世锦赛上乃至任何排名赛上希是没答应没有假球的 看视频就知道了 包括对戴维斯一场 希迷应该都能从希的小动作看出来希在后面两局非常紧张 所以那场不可能是假球
