Gong Li’s Acceptance Speech for National Board of Review
I would like to thank the National Board of Review for giving me this wonderful honor. It is a great thrill to receive this award for what is my first English speaking role.
Rob Marshall and the rest of the cast gave me immense support and inspiration. Rob has an instinctive understanding of Eastern culture and offered me invaluable insights into my character: Hastumomo’s complex emotional state.
I’m sorry I can’t be with you in person to accept this award. But thank you once again. It means a great deal to me.

非常感谢北美影评人协会授予我这样一个极大的荣誉。让我感到兴奋的是，这是我所饰演的英语角色所获得的第一个奖。
罗伯·马歇尔和《艺伎回忆录》剧组全体人员给了我非常好的支持与灵感。罗伯有着对于东方文化天才般的理解，他以他一贯的洞察力帮助我进入角色：初桃复杂的心灵世界。
我很遗憾我不能到现场和你们面对面地领这个奖，但请允许我再次感谢大家。这个奖给予了我非常高的评价。
