This is a song about being utterly in love while at the same time being in a lot of emotional pain.
You see things with your eyes that your heart ignores.
Love is what makes life beautiful but life is oftentimes not as neat ("messy") when you follow the dictates of your heart.
Experts call this emotional abuse or dysfunction which is totally unhealthy.
