【Danny Gokey】【演唱会记文】Sheboygan演唱会

I did not have a M&G for this concert as it was all sold out by the time I decided to attend. My seat was in the balcony but I had a perfect view of the stage , the theatre was beautiful and the concert was sold out. Concert time came and went by pretty quickly but as some of you have experienced you want to freeze time and make it last for hours. Could Danny sing and dance for hours? I bet he could because his energy level is just amazing. I loved the set the SHF choir and dance team did and if you have seen the videos you can see they were fantastic unsure if there are new voices in the Choir from the last performance I saw at Summerfest, they were terrific and Danny is really proud of them. Love the spirit of the kids. Danny sang his usual set plus Tennessee Christmas and his voice was amazing. I was anxiously waiting to hear Tennessee Christmas and when I finally heard it, I loved it and Danny’s voice is a perfect match for this song, I had never heard of this song before until he announced that this was his holiday song. I am looking forward to hearing it on the radio. It was great to see Jamie with the band again and one could really hear her, she has a beautiful voice. The band stopped doing the final group bow at the end of the concert but I think Danny should bring it back when he starts touring again. After the concert I talked to Jamie for a few minutes. Jamie and Brandon are spending the holiday with her family and she is done touring with Carrie on December 20th unsure if this is the end of Carrie’s tour or just a holiday break.
At the autograph line it looked like the majority of the audience stayed to get autographs, merchandise was being bought and the line moved pretty quickly. When Steph and I were in front of Danny I told him that I loved Tennessee Christmas and that his voice was amazing and he said Thank you and I believe I remember holding hands with him and I am not sure if Steph will write a recape or not but thought I would share that Danny knew her twitter name. As we left the theatre the SHF choir was singing Soul Sister right outside the theatre many were standing around to hear them and we stayed to listen also and then we headed towards our car already looking forward to the next concert the following day.
Wausau concert 11/20/10
From Sheboygan to Wausau it was about a 3 hour drive and when we arrived we had plenty of time before the concert and again we met up with another 15 or so Danny fans at a restaurant nearby the Grand Theatre. I did have a M&G for this concert so the excitement was really building as the time arrived.

We arrived at the theatre and went to the M&G line. I had decided to bring Danny a gift this time being that it is so close to the holidays. While my son was in NYC last week, I asked him if he would go to the Hershey store and buy one of those giant size Hershey bar and first thing he said to me “ let me guess you are gifting it to Danny Gokey” and I told him “yes” . I still don’t know what type of chocolate Danny favors, my son told me they only had milk chocolate on the shelf and I told him to go ahead and get one and he did. Back to M&G, I have stood in that line a few times but that nervous type of feeling happens all the time when he appears right there in front of you. He certainly can make an entrance but as you watch him one becomes calmer since you see how comfortable he makes everyone feel and he engages fans in conversations. I have always had the attitude that I would make the best of my 2 minutes and not just take a picture with him so I always try to be prepared with a question or two. So when my time came up I had the large candy bar in my hands and (please note I don’t exactly remember all the details of how everything went) as I was walking towards him looking at his face he was pretty happy. I have also been told by others who were there that he did a little dance but honestly I was so focused on his face and don’t remember the dance but if others saw him do it then he did (too bad I did not video this but I wanted to be respectful to the rules of no personal cameras). I do remember he made an attempt to sort of take a bite into it, then I heard Mike say something about putting the bar on stage and then I said I have a better idea why don’t we open it after the concert and we all eat it together but then I went on to tell him that since the holidays were near and he has so many nieces and nephews he could share it with them. This is what else I said to Danny “as we are in the season of giving Thanks I thank you for going on American Idol, from which it allowed me to meet you and because of you I have met so many beautiful people” and he Thanked me for my support. I also asked him a question that has always been on my mind as it was talked about on Iheart several months back as someone said one of his nationalities was Italian so I wanted to confirm that directly with him and he said that he had a few different nationalities in his family and he knew there was also some Italian and now this is what I can‘t remember exactly I believe he told me he knew a little bit of Italian words and then he asked me if I was Italian and I told him yes. We took a picture, we hugged and as I was leaving I went up to Mike and asked him if it was OK to have a group picture at the end of the auto line and that I understood if it wasn’t possible as Danny might have needed to rush out at the end due to going to the AMAs and Mike said it was OK it just needed to be quick. I then went on my way to the theatre to my seat still glowing from my 2 minutes with Danny.

When I was escorted by an usher to my seat as the usher kept going closer to the stage I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw that I was sitting 2nd row from the stage, I felt so blessed that a really beautiful soul/friend/fan made it all work out. I sat with some really dedicated Danny fans and as I looked around the theatre it was great to see so many familiar faces. There was an all girl Choir that sang before Danny they sounded good but in my head I was reliving the M&G and trying not to forget what we talked about. Once Danny came on stage he received one of the loudest cheers and applause I have ever heard. He was super energetic and really letting loose with his dance moves and his voice was very powerful. The stories Danny tells to introduce songs are touching, funny and inspiring especially when he talks about how he proposed to Sophia and when he talks about SHF and what it means to him and what he wants to accomplish with it. I was lucky to hear again Tennessee Christmas and during the song I did not take pictures or video as I just wanted to listen to it, the song is beautiful and Danny certainly put his own signature on it. I love the chemistry the whole band has on stage (and probably off stage too).
After the concert it would appear that most of the audience stayed for autographs as the line went on forever. Myself and some others stood directly across from where Danny was signing at a short distance and you could really see how focused he is with each fan that goes by and makes them feel special. As the line got shorter I had a cd I wanted him to sign so I went in line and when my turn came up he looked at me and said TonicNY and this was my first time hearing it which was unexpected but felt great to hear. I wished him a Happy Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas told him how I loved both concerts and then wished him good luck with the AMAs and that I was hoping he would win the award at the ACAs, he said “I hope so” and told him we would be watching and although Danny was the one still talking the security guard kept telling me “you have to move on” a couple of times. We went and gathered with some of the other Ihearties and noticed that all of Danny’s family was also there in the same area and were waiting for him, they must be so proud of him as they were all smiles and just watching him interact with his fans. Danny signed the last autograph and he came right over to where we were standing and he himself was calling out Ihearties to come to the group for the picture. This lasted about 5 minutes or so and then when it was over Danny said Bye to everyone and he and Mike left. Within only a couple of minutes both of them return and they get surrounded by the PYT all girls choir and he took pictures with each one of them, Danny was all smiles and his usual happy self. We all waited for Danny to leave again and then we went to an after concert get together nearby going over the fun we had at these last 2 concerts.

Conclusion:
We all support and promote Danny in our own way and no matter how big or how small we all have the same goal and that is to help him succeed, help him with SHF and to see him happy. I as a fan know what I am able or can do to help and I don’t expect anything in return. Danny has given so much of himself to all his fans and the best gift he could give us all, he has already given it to us.
2010 has been a year that I will never forget for more than the obvious reasons. I am looking forward to 2011 and to what it will bring especially since we know Danny is working on his second CD and doing some of his own song writing.
I just hope that in 2011 Danny has a concert on my birthday again just like in 2010 (Colorado) as that will be a very significant birthday for me and where ever he will be performing I will be there on that date May 8 (just in case Danny is reading this) and if you must know what age I am going to be turning, just like Danny’s dedication in my scrap book of Danny concert memories that dear Jan gifted me he wrote “Happy 18th Birthday again” so next year I am turning 19 again.
I am so happy to be part of such an awesome group of dedicated, loyal, supportive beautiful fans.   It was a perfect weekend and awesome spending time with fans I already knew and new fans I met.
