"Luka Rocco Magnotta dabbed his eyes as a piece of evidence was shown at his preliminary hearing Thursday, but it wasn't clear if the alleged body-parts killer shed any actual tears.

A publication ban prevents media from detailing the evidence that provoked the reaction from the former porn actor. As a homicide detective made her presentation, Magnotta lifted his hand to one eye, then the other, in the glass-enclosed prisoner's box. It was difficult to see if his eyes were watery. He later covered his mouth several times during the detective's testimony. The defendant has barely moved, and has maintained a blank expression, throughout his court appearances.

"Crown attorney Louis Bouthillier asked him a question, at which point the witness looked directly at Magnotta and responded. Magnotta looked right back at him as he answered. There was otherwise no facial expression on the defendant, who wore a burgundy T-shirt, blue jeans and white sneakers. He was also sporting glasses with dark frames. Defence lawyer Luc Leclair objected to a piece of evidence at one point, raising his voice and appearing impatient as he addressed the court.

昨日法庭继续爆满，不仅吸引了媒体的注意，法律界、刑事罪行学界及攻读新闻专业的学生都来旁听，甚至还有马格诺塔的支持者。一位自称支持马格诺塔的22岁男子，是远道从美国北卡州驱车赶来旁听，并试图与马格诺塔接触。
