在北京时间2014年6月27号进行的NBA选秀大会上，湖人在第7顺位摘走了肯塔基大学大一前锋朱利叶斯-兰德尔。
兰德尔出生于1994年11月29号，身高6尺9寸，本赛季在肯塔基大学场均得15.0分10.4篮板，帮助球队打进今年NCAA锦标赛决赛。兰德尔在本赛季40场比赛中有24场得到两双，创下了肯塔基大学大一生的纪录，并且是肯塔基大学的得分王和篮板王。
之前有报道称，兰德尔将在选秀大会后接受右脚手术，不过这一消息之后被兰德尔本人否认。

Randle, who grew up a Lakers and Kobe Bryant fan, said he'd be happy to be picked seventh to play with the team.

Randle said he's lost five to 10 pounds since his time at UK. "I've really focused on eating healthy," he said, noting he ranges from 4 percent to 6 percent body fat. That's down from 9.4 percent at the NBA Draft Combine.
Randle说比大学时期瘦了5-10磅左右，现在的体脂含量大概是4%-6%左右，比nba选秀体测时候的 9.4%低了不少

优势：身体强壮，拥有高超的篮球技术……在面框和运球方面能力出众……篮筐终结非常棒……在大学篮球的三分线范围内都能投篮……可以背打，更喜欢面框……非常有职业精神的好孩子……
劣势：尽管他很结实，尤其是考虑到他的年龄，但他不是那类身体素质令人叹为观止的球员……没有尽其所能地在篮下呆着，严重倾向于飘在外线。他应该更专注于提升在禁区的表现，尤其随着年龄的增长，这才是他的立足之本……有时候选择了太多的跳投，而不是专注于内线……太习惯使用左手，需要努力更好地使用右手……
