同人文（动漫或电影的同人文）中是指脱离原作的故事情节与人物原本的关系，只借用原作的人物名字（甚至有时候会连年龄都会改变），把原作人物放进自己构造的新的故事情节里面，就是架空文。
若不是同人文，原创文中的架空，譬如用历史人物架空，就像楼上一位大人说的一样，是把历史中确实存在的人物（或是加进原创人物），把他们放进同一个或自己虚构的时空中和自己的故事中。
