It was nerve-racking. It’s like asking a painter to paint without a brush. That was a bad thing for me. I’ve never done that – sing without my guitar. It was the first time. And I don’t like having firsts on national television.”

5.   HL - You know that’s interesting, because you have bands out there like Bon Jovi, you know they are still singing wanted dead or alive. You’re making your album, and twenty years from now your still going to be playing them.
Casey - (Laughter) That won’t be a problem because I think the song evolves over time. You know if you got the time and your playing an hour show then heck ya play it. But if you have to play a song from day to day basis then you have to have something in there that is open to interpretation. Normally its boom boom boom, so I put one in their that is going to be able to be played with which is cool.
6.   HL - It’s obviously first music, there is also movies, TV and Broadway. Where do you think you fit in?
Casey - First and foremost like you said its music. If there was ever a time that I could do anything else that wouldn’t interfere with my music, I think it would be fun. An acting thing would be cool, but I don’t know enough about the craft to consider seriously at this point. It would be fun to do and it would be interesting.
7.   HL - This has obviously built a heartthrob status for you, there is so many people that love you, want to meet you, posters on the wall types of situations. You are so wrapped with the tour, but down the road how are you going to deal with dating situation now that it is totally different. Now that people are going to come to you in a totally different way.
Casey - That’s a good question man. You know honestly, I don’t know at this point. I have some special girls that I have known in the past I think about leaning towards, revisiting something along those lines, just because they know who I am and knew me before this. If not, I’m starting to understand now that those people that are in the public often date others in the public. Its just a different thing, you have to worry about alterior motives, you never know but right now I am so busy that it doesn’t even compute or matter. Finding   somebody to spend the rest of my life with is a goal of mine. Its not one you necesarrily pursue, but you kind of just hope for the best. I’ll figure that all out by the way things go. It’s a good question that I am asking myself on a day to day basis.   It’s a different situation when people know you automatically, its not like in the past when I would say hey my name is Casey, how are you. It’s not like that.
8.   HL - When you write your songs, how do approach the writing stage, is it first with the guitar or with the lyrics.
Casey - Another good question. It depends on the song. There has been times I have wrote music and then wrote lyrics to it, and then there has been times where I write lyrics and put music to it. There has been several times where I literally write the song on the go. One of my latest songs I just started playing and singing.
HL - That’s cool.
Casey - That was lucky because I had a recorder with me, a lot of times I don’t and I don’t have it all written down so I lose it. But that’s how it works for me. It depends, a lot of people are particular but it changes a lot for me.


9.   HL - Is there a question you’d like people to ask you or a thing that you’d like people to know that you have never said or been asked during all these interviews. Or have you heard it all?
Casey - I have been really thankful that people have asked some great questions, everyone knows who I am , and I am very honored about that. People have a good sense of who I am. I’m just a guy who is happy to be alive. i know it sounds funny but I’m thankful. In my life I’m all about respect and treated people the way I want to be treated. And if we all do that, the whole human race does that as a whole then the world would be a wonderful place. I’m a Christian, I have my own belief system and you don’t even have to be that way to be a good person. I get a sense that people know that about me and it makes me feel good to know that. People are getting me. You guys do a great job with your questions.
10.   HL - Is there something on the backburner or something you can’t do anymore that you’d like to get your hands on again?
Casey - Well, its exactly that. But with music. Someone the other day wanted to jam, I was like Oh lets go, that is one of my favorite things, but I can’t do that. They won’t let me do that. its against all the rules! (Laughter) I would break every rule in the book if I did that. So that is the biggest thing that I miss, if I wanted to jam a song for you in the past I could do that. But now I can’t. I think sooner or later in my career I will be able to do that and be trusted to do that. Its a positive a negative because it will be great when I can do it again. You can’t have everything, I’m in a better position that I have ever been in. So it is what it is.
11.   HL - So the thing with jamming, especially backstage with Bret Michaels and all the people that have performed. Have you jammed with anyone of them.
Casey - Perfect example when I met Bret. We were talking about the song and we were going back and forth. There were guitars nearby, so we picked them up and started jamming. It was a down home sensation. It felt really good. When you play music and your chilling but at the same time its Bret Michaels. I was like what the heck. It was pretty awesome!
12.   HL - How do you deal with the rumors?
Casey - I don’t keep up, which is a good thing. If its true then I know it. The stuff that I don’t know that people say, I don’t respond too because I don’t know that it is there. Sometimes I hear stuff and say that is ridiculous and I laugh about it. I’m like really? But for the most part its blissful because I don’t know what people are saying. Blissful ignorance.
13.   HL - Are you a landmark type of guy when you hit up these 51 cities, how will spend your free time?
Casey - I like to see everything that the cities have to offer, so I will always be on my phone checking out the things to see for the next city. Look for the history. I love history.
14.   HL - How about sporting stuff?
Casey - I’m a hometown fan. Boo everybody else. I’m a Cowboys and Mavericks fan, the Stars the Rangers.
15.   HL - Have you been to the Cowboy Stadium?
Casey - I have not been. So Jerry Jones if you are listening and have any tickets please.
HL - Or performing there!
Casey - Oh that would even be better! (Laughter) I have to start thinking that way! That would be great!
16.   HL - Adam Shankman will be directing Rock of Ages the film, he wants you to try out, would you want to do that?
Casey - If I had time away from music and I wan’t losing music time, if that makes sense then I’d love to do it.
17.   HL - Is there a guilty pleasure song that you can’t live without on your Ipod.
Casey - I put it on shuffle a lot. I’ve got everything in there. I’ve got   Pavoratti, Frank Sinatra, Gypsey Kings, Pantera and Megadeath, Slipknot, Merle Haggard and George Jones. Dan tomitsky, Ron Block, Allison Krauss, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Clapton, Lynnard Skynnard, AC/DC, and Audio Slave, Augustana, Bill Withers, BB King and Albert King. People say they listen to everything, I listen to everything! Rusted Root, World Music, Latin Music, Old School, 40’s, Big Band, Folk, James Taylor, Bluegrass and it goes on and on. Heavy Metal, Old School Rock, New Rock. It goes on and on..Pop..
HL - And Gangster Rap!
Casey - I love Dr. Dre, I love Snoop and Eminem. I’m all over the board. I love country, blues and rock! It goes on and on.
HL - Well thank you for your time.
Casey - Yeah man. You know what, you have the best, the best questions out of anybody. This is the best interview I have ever had. With over probably 1,000 interviews you have set the bar. I really mean that.
HL - Well thank you, I really appreciate that.
