Short review of May.24.2014 2pm Hedwig performance.
Actress Soo Ae came. She was sitting at the left end of G(7th) row. And another Hedwig actor (CSW's highschool classsmate) Kim Da Hyun came too. CSW went home quickly without signing autograph. Because it's Saturday. The next performance is at 5pm. He should disappear quickly not to disturb next performance. So no encore on Saturday. He rode motorbike going home. Standing beside his bike, he was wearing sunglasses, gloves earphone and helmet, people were looking at him screaming wooo~ waaa~. He said, "How embarrassed you guys are looking at me just wearing helmet." When he is Hedwig or Dongchan, he spits out such curse and raw jokes, but he's so shy out of the stage.Today he forgot his line, so he asked help to Yitzhak. He said, "This is the situation that you're guessing." :) He said Dongchan's line, when he introduced Yitzhak, "She is sexy and tough. Her one punch breaks your three teeth, she will change your teeth order." Then he himself burst into laughter.

关于参演音乐剧《杰克与海德》前的一些波折故事
其实曹叔本来是去参加过《歌剧魅影》的演员甄选的，可是落选了，落选的理由非常奇葩……可是谁人又能想到当初幽灵一角的落选却反而让曹叔正确选择了《变型怪医》并成功跻身韩国音乐剧一线演员之列呢？所以任何时候都不要放弃梦想，也不要害怕挫折，勇敢去尝试，所愿必所得。
Fun tidbit. Jekyll and Hyde is often considered as Jo Seung Woo's "musical masterpiece" but another musical could have claimed that title. Jo Seung Woo actually auditioned for 'The Phantom of the Opera' in 2001 but was passed up. He made it to the final auditions but received a letter stating that he was dropped, however, it was later discovered that it was due to a clerical error made by a new employee of the production who sent the letter out by mistake.

听过小曹唱英文歌的人大多都会赞叹他英文发音标准，也会好奇他本人的英文水平到底如何，下面这一篇就是关于小曹英文水平的旧闻，还有一些学生时代的趣事，有图图放送，看懂的亲一定会笑出声来，因为小曹上学时真挨过《假如爱有天意里》俊河被打的那种棍子，哈哈~
All the musical actors are good at singing in English and accent is very natural, because they listen to the original CD so many times and so carefully and copy it. And they usually work with foreigner staffs, so conversation would be no problem too. A popular musical actor Hong Kwang Ho (CSW's highschool junior, also trumpet player of Devils in movie Gogo70) are performing Miss Saigon at London with 1 year schedule.
But it seems CSW's English wasn't that good at school. His highschool classmates are popular musical actors and actress now, his school life is well known. Actress Cho Jeong Eun (acted his lover at Jekyll&Hyde and Zorro) said that in their class (acting class in Kyewon art highschool) one student became the chief of one subject, and Seung Woo was an English chief. But he couldn't do his own English homework, mostly Jeong Eun did it for him. Then why he did English chief?
CSW also said that at highschool days, he had worked at construction area to earn money to buy musical CDs and music books. In his schoolbag, he brought only CDs and music books of various musicals and CD players, no textbooks at all. And said they didn't have vacation. In every vacation, they made musical, so almost lived at school to practice for couple of months.
One more funny story is, at highschool there was a sudden pocket inspection. (There is in most schools, especially for boys, to find out smokers mainly.) And a lighter was found at CSW's pocket. He excused, "It's to broil chestnuts. See." Then he lit up the lighter and burned some chestnuts. So what happened? He was beaten by the butt double than other boys. (That's why he could act naturally in the movie The Classic.)

演员秀爱也来了。她坐在第七排的最左手边。另一位海德薇格的演员（也是曹承佑的高中同学）金多贤也来了。由于是周六，所以表演结束后曹承佑没有签海报尽快赶回家，因为在下午五点还有下一场表演，他必须尽快离开避免防碍下一场表演，所以周六没有安可。他骑摩托车回家，在现场粉丝的阵阵尖叫声中，他慢慢戴上墨镜，手套，耳机，头盔。他说：你们看着我戴头盔让我感觉很尴尬。当他是海德薇格或者东灿时，他可以肆无忌惮的大声讲笑和讲粗话，但是现实生活中的他是如此腼腆。今天他忘了他的站位，他问了伊扎克，他说：你猜测的情形真的发生了。今天他用了东灿的台词，他介绍伊扎克时说：她又性感又强壮，她可以一拳打掉你三颗牙齿，她会把你的牙齿重新排序的（神礼里东灿的台词）。说完，他自己哈哈大笑。

所有的音乐剧演员都很擅长演唱英文歌而且口音还非常自然，因为他们听原版CD很认真，听很多次然后还模仿。他们常常要跟国外的同行共事，所以对话也不会有问题。音乐剧演员洪光浩（曹承佑的高中学弟，也是《摇滚70年代》中DEVILS乐队的喇叭手）正在伦敦进行为期一年的《西贡小姐》的演出。
但在学校的时候曹承佑的英语可没有这么好。他的高中同学现在都是有名的音乐剧演员了，所以他学生生涯的种种事迹也渐为人知。女演员赵宋恩（在《杰克海德》和《佐罗》中扮演过他的情人）说过他们班（桂园艺高表演班）是一个学生当一个科目的课代表，曹承佑是英语课代表。但是他连英语作业自己都不会做，经常要赵宋恩替他做。就这水平怎么还当英语课代表呢？
曹承佑也说过在高中的时候曾到工地打工挣钱来买音乐剧CD和音乐书籍。他的书包里装的只有CD、音乐剧的书和CD机，从来没有课本。而且他们也没有假期。每个假期都要排音乐剧，一练就是几个月就跟住在学校没两样。
还有一件事更有趣。高中的时候是会对学生的口袋进行突击检查的(大部分学校是这样，尤其会严查男生，主要是为了防止他们抽烟）。有一次在曹承佑的口袋里查到了一个打火机。他解释说“我这个是烤栗子用的，不信你看”。然后他打着了火机开始烤栗子。结果呢？他挨的棍子比别的男生多了一倍（这就是为什么他在《爱有天意》里能把俊河挨打演得那么逼真）。（瓶盖注：那次挨打虽然用的是橡胶道具棒子，但屁股上什么都没垫，是真打，很痛的，不完全是演，承佑在actor commentary里有讲过）

Jo Seung Woo once said in an interview:
“The Korean drama system is the kind I can’t stand. If all the dramas were to be pre-produced then I would give it a try but if I have to do it piece by piece almost close to live then I can’t. Dramas don’t even let you sleep. Not sleeping or eating on time changes a person’s personality.” (source: Hancinema)
From an actor who had this enlightened view on the Korean drama system, many people were probably curious as to why he finally decided to do dramas 10 years after the start of his career. It was of course partially due to his friendship with members of the Horse Doctor production staff but that is not the whole story.
In the clip, Jo Seung Woo explains this change of heart and I find his outlook on the current movie atmosphere really fascinating. I also really respect the fact that he constantly tries to challenge himself and do things he likes, regardless of if it will be popular or not. That’s a great mindset for an actor to have. His honesty is also greatly appreciated.

2013年5月15日观演后记（来自DC）
May.15.2013 Hedwig review (from DC CSW gall again)Yesterday was another actor. His performance was exactly same as last year. That means CSW changed the whole show by himself, during the terrible drama schedule. I can tell how much he loves Hedwig.Today was his 2nd performance. There was one more encore. Hedwig, Yitzhak and the guitarist, only 3 came out and sang 'The origin of love' acoustic version. In the middle, "Sing, I will chorus." Then went to the drums and played it! The audience screaming almost broke the building. While he talked about his past story, "I've performed with Korean ajummas band." Then the band members wore real ajumma wig. CSW turned around and saw them, burst into laughter, couldn't sing. Poor Yitzhak, she is supposed to keep solid face for the whole show, should not laugh. But today, Hedwig said funny words too much, she turned around and swallowed her laughs.Today's car wash, many people volunteered, but he went to a girl who didn't raise hand.Today's Tommy was a red hair teenager boy. Hedwig asked him, "Are you a highschooler? Then when you take a shower, you do not only a shower, but you also do something else, don't you?"The red hair boy answered loudly, "Yes, I do!" Hedwig burst into laughter. The boy received his handkerchief then the beer can too. After the show, he went to CSW and received his autograph on his bag. CSW recognized him and called him, "Tommy!"
BTW, today I went there to buy OST CD yeh~. It was sold out just after me. And I saw his new jeep at the parking lot. Damn cool. Now I'm listening to the CD. I'm a rock music mania, and OMG this is exactly my taste. I watched the Hedwig movie, so I was familiar to the English lyric. But the Korean lyric ( plus CSW's voice of course) is great! The music is strong and powerful but the lyric is so sad. The handwritten lyric book is so cute.
