Fastest Tortoise（慢速）
Recently, the Guinness World Records announced the new record holders for 2016.
Bertie is a tortoise. Bertie broke a record set in 1977 for the world's fastest tortoise. His top speed was 0.28 meters a second.
Marco Calzini is Bertie's owner. He says that it is uncommon for such an animal to be fast.
"A lot of people noticed that he was very fast and the staff as well noticed he was very quick so we looked at this and we thought yeah, he is for a tortoise. It's very unusual for a tortoise to be so active."
Another record-setting animal is a beagle named Purin, from Chiba, Japan. Many dogs can catch a ball, but not like Purin. She became a world record holder. She caught 14 balls in one minute with her paws.
Guinness World Records also is recognizing Lazy J's Bluegrass, a steer from the American state of Kansas. He has the longest horns in the world. They are nearly three meters long, from end to end.

VIENNA— The stream of refugees into Vienna’s central train station has slowed in recent days after Hungary closed its borders. But as Vienna authorities seek to clear the station in the most humane way possible, refugees hope other paths are opening up and their friends and family will to follow them to Austria.
Crowds still gathered at Vienna’s main train station Wednesday, a day after Hungary closed its border with Serbia, slowing the tide of refugees.
Some families who are stranded without money or passports to get to Germany still wait outside for help. Aid workers said they were prepared to be at the station indefinitely.
The station is not nearly as crowded as it was a couple of days ago, but some refugees say the people stranded on the other side of the border are sure to find some way to get to migrant-friendly countries in Europe.

Last week Amazon announced Word Runner, a new tool for reading Kindle books.
Word Runner is a software update that shows one word at a time, instead of words, sentences and paragraphs on one page.
Amazon says Word Runner was developed to make reading faster. By seeing one word at a time on the screen, you will not lose your place on the page. Amazon says Word Runner may help you to focus on what you are reading.
You can control your reading speed at a pace of 100 to 900 words per minute. A bar at the bottom of the screen lets you set the speed that works best for you.
You can increase the speed to train yourself to read faster or force yourself to focus on the text. You can slow down the speed for text that is difficult to understand.
You can flip between Word Runner and seeing all of the words on a page on your screen.

04 话 Exercise helps lower fitness age （常速）
Every morning, Tony Diamond goes to a local park for an hour of fast walking. Then he runs for another hour. He also goes to a gym two or three times a week for muscle training. The retired navy captain won three medals at the 2015 National Senior Games in the road race and the race walk in his age group, 85 to 89.
The research, led by Dr. Pamela Peeke of the University of Maryland in coordination with Dr. Ulrik Wisloff of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, who developed a fitness calculator, found that older athletes’ fitness age is more than 20 years younger than their chronological age.
You simply input very straightforward data，your age, height, weight, how much you work out, your waist size, heart rate, blood pressure, and it goes on. Then press a button and find out what your actual fitness age is.
Twenty, 25, 30 ... all of us can lower our fitness age by staying right on top of it, taking good care of ourselves.

05 words and stories--friends
In American English, we often use the saying, "A friend in need is a friend indeed." When you are in need, the person who helps you through the difficult times is, indeed, a friend.
There is also some debate about this expression. Some think it is not "indeed" but "in deed," as in a person's actions. The meaning does not change much, but the expression using "in deed" stresses the action of helping a friend in trouble.
The words tight and thick are often used to describe really strong friendships. If you are tight with someone, you are close with them. For example, I know two people who have been friends since grade school. They are super tight.
A good friend will see you through "thick and thin," meaning both the good times and the bad.
One of my favorite expressions to describe close friends is to say they are "thick as thieves." This may sound as if the friends are living a life of crime. Not so.
