回到皮卡迪利,拐到干草市(Haymarket)(这次采用群众版的地名翻译好了,我实在想不出来),沿着这条街走几步就能在左手边看到干草市剧院( Theatre Royal Hayarket)。这个地名出现在《退休的颜料商》一案,那个很不招华生待见的老头企图用两张剧院票制造假的不在场证明。案子本身并不是我最喜欢的案子之一,不过老福说了一句我最喜欢的台词之一。当时老福派华生去案发现场踩点,华生回来有板有眼的描述说“四周环绕着晒得发硬的、长着苔藓的高墙,这种墙——”“别作诗了,华生,我看那是一座高的砖墙。”啧啧啧,真是大老粗。
