After witnessing paranormal activity occurring in their house, the Hutz family were quick to call Beatrice and have her start using her powers to search for and exorcise any malevolent spirits. However, she - along with the entire household - were driven away from the building by the Ghost Master's team.
For some reason, a large painting of her is hanging in the living room of the Hutz house, above their stereo system.

Bruce is a self-centred man, with finely honed instincts for self-preservation.
Bruce Elm is a mortal. He's one of Dr. Krauss's students. Together with Richard Getley and Sarah Knowby, he travelled to the doctor's remote cabin to find his occult tome, hoping to summon and control the Darkling for their own plans. Instead, the shadow promptly devoured their souls.
Being trapped in the woods with the Darkling has ravaged Bruce's mind and driven him insane.
Driven mad by the event, Bruce somehow managed to stumble out of the basement before collapsing into a coma by the cellar doors.
Found in the woods, his shattered mind now refuses to respond to any stimulus.
After being discovered, Bruce was taken to the asylum and left on the floor of one of the cells. Dr. Krauss wired him up like the other mental patients in order to use his insane mind to generate the ward necessary to hold the Darkling.
